Building Family Together is a weekly podcast on marriage, business, faith, and the long work of building a family that lasts.

Hosted by Reggie and Tanora Polk, founders of Polk & Associates Construction in Nashville, Tennessee, the show is for couples who are trying to do all of it at the same time. Build a marriage. Build a business. Build a family. Hold onto faith through every season. Stay aligned when life gets full.

Reggie and Tanora have spent the last fifteen years building something most couples only talk about. They started Polk & Associates in 2011 and grew it into a full service construction firm trusted by federal, state, and commercial clients across Tennessee. Reggie is President and CEO. Tanora is Vice President. Together they have led the company through every season a marriage faces, every test a young business meets, and every chapter a growing family walks through.

This show is the conversation behind the conversation. Every week Reggie and Tanora open up about what most couples never say out loud. The cost of building. The grace of growing. The fights that taught them something. The wins that almost broke them. The ordinary moments that turned into the foundation of everything.

The topics range. Money, parenting, communication, ambition, rest, faith, and all the places those things collide. Sometimes the topic is what is keeping a marriage from feeling alive. Sometimes it is what it looks like to run a business as a couple without losing each other. Sometimes it is just a story from the week that landed.

If you are a couple in the middle of building together, whether that is a household, a business, a ministry, or a calling, Building Family Together is a weekly seat at the table with two people who are still in the work themselves. The show is for you whether you have been married six months or thirty years.

New episode every Wednesday.

  • The Real Version of a Big Family, Not the Social Media One | Building Family Together Ep 5
    2026/07/15

People assume the Polks have it all together. Tanora and Reggie pull back the curtain on what a large family actually looks like, from the morning it took everything just to get everyone out the door to the day they filled a diesel van with regular gas and got stranded on I-75 with eight kids in the summer heat.

    In this episode:
The wild things strangers say when they find out you have nine children. How they keep their marriage first when everyone needs a piece of them. Groceries for a full house, from bulk buying and a food co-op to shopping six stores for the best deal. Clothing a large family through out of season shopping, hand-me-downs, and a Tupperware system that actually works. Delegating the workload and teaching kids real life skills in the process. And why they integrate the children into their own schedule instead of letting the calendar be run by the kids.

It all comes back to a truth Tanora holds onto: the most important work you will ever do will be within the walls of your own home.

  • How to Avoid Burnout in Marriage, Business, and Faith | Building Family Together
    2026/07/01

Tanora and Reggie Polk get honest about something most families carry in silence: burnout. From anxiety attacks after baby number eight to learning when to shut the phone off, they walk through what burnout actually looks like and the boundaries that keep a marriage, a home, and a business from running on empty.

    In this episode:
The real warning signs of burnout, from brain fog to getting sick over and over. Why the strong friend is often the one nobody checks on. The difference between a burden and a load, and why carrying other people's loads leads straight to burnout. How the JOY principle keeps Jesus, others, and yourself in the right order without leaving yourself last. Practical boundaries for entrepreneurs, employees, and anyone in ministry. And the simple truth a dear friend left Tanora before she passed: enjoy every moment and stop worrying about the things you cannot change.

Scriptures referenced: Matthew 11:28, Galatians 6:2, Galatians 6:5.
