  • How to Stop Emotional Eating & Balance Hormones - Dr. Patrick Porter & Amber Romaniuk
    2025/11/12

How do you stop emotional eating and balance hormones? It starts in the brain.

Food can hijack your dopamine, stress your adrenals, and throw your hormones off balance. Today, I sit down with Amber Romaniuk to uncover what’s really driving emotional eating and how to break the cycle.

Amber Romaniuk is an Emotional Eating, Digestive, and Hormone Expert, with 11 years of experience helping high-achieving women create a level of body confidence, intuition, and optimal health through powerful mindset healing, self-care, and overcoming self-sabotage with food. She does this through addressing the key negative thoughts, patterns, and limiting beliefs that keep women stuck in the same behaviors for years and decades that they haven’t been able to break. Her podcast “The No Sugarcoating Podcast” has 2+ million downloads, over 500 episodes, and is listened to in over 88 countries.

In this episode, we talk about the brain’s reward system, cortisol, thyroid, sleep, and why restrictive diets often backfire. You’ll leave with simple, brain-first steps to stabilize blood sugar, eat with balance, protect your sleep, and retrain your nervous system.

My mission is to better a billion brains, and that includes helping you build a healthier relationship with food, mood, and energy!

  • Concussion Recovery for Student Athletes: BrainTap, SMR Training with Francisco Cidral, ND, PhD
    2025/11/05

If a student athlete has lingering symptoms after a concussion—brain fog, light/noise sensitivity, balance issues, trouble focusing—there are non-invasive ways to support recovery.

Today's guest, Dr. Francisco Cidral, is an entrepreneur, professor, and researcher. He holds an ND, a master’s and PhD in Neuroscience, and a post-doctorate in Health Sciences. He specializes in integrative therapies and the neurobiology of pain and inflammation. Dr. Cidral currently serves as Science Officer at BrainTap and as CEO of the Integrative Health School in Orlando, Florida.

In this episode, Dr. Patrick Porter and Dr. Cidral walk through a real-world high school program where BrainTap brainwave entrainment (SMR morning sessions, midday stress relief, and deep-sleep delta sessions) was combined with compression boots and chiropractic care.

What stood out: at one-year follow-up, the group that used BrainTap + compression showed meaningful reductions in post-concussion symptoms vs. chiropractic care alone—e.g., fewer headaches, less neck pain, reduced anxiety, better balance, and less brain fog.

We also cover why SMR matters for cognition, how light and sound help entrain brain states, and the role of auricular vagus stimulation in downshifting stress. For athletic programs, clinics, and trainers, the protocol is easy to implement (in-office or at-home with the BrainTap system) and designed to complement—not replace—your current care plan.

  • How Early Cancer Detection Reduces Anxiety and Brings Peace of Mind - Sumit Rai
    2025/10/22

In this episode of the Brain Fitness Podcast, I sit down with Sumit Rai, CEO of Cancer Check Labs, to discuss how early cancer detection is reshaping the emotional experience of health.

Mr. Rai is the founder and CEO of Cancer Check Labs, where his innovative approach to circulating tumor cell (CTC) capture is transforming cancer technology. Driven by the loss of his younger sister to cancer, Mr. Rai is dedicated to the fight against the disease.

Since 2012, he has served as President of Cure Sonia, which funds cancer research at top centers like Stanford, USC, and MD Anderson, and provides financial assistance to families in need. He also recently launched Save A Firefighter, offering early cancer detection for firefighters who face triple the cancer risk due to their occupation. In 2022, Mr. Rai was nominated for the National Board of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Before his work in cancer research, Mr. Rai spent 20 years in venture capital, private equity, and hedge funds, as well as founding a mobile ad exchange with a notable exit.

Even the healthiest people feel fear when they hear the word cancer. But what if awareness and early testing could change that? Sumit shares how new advances in early cancer screening technology are giving people the gift of clarity, helping replace fear with confidence and peace of mind.

We explore why cancer-related anxiety is real, how early cancer detection empowers informed decision-making, and the emotional shift from reactive care to proactive prevention. This conversation blends science and compassion to remind us that knowledge isn’t just power: it’s freedom from fear.

  • How to Calm a Stressed Nervous System with Brain Fitness - Allie Chandler
    2025/10/08

“When your nervous system is stuck in overdrive, even walking to the mailbox can feel impossible.”

Today I sit down with Allie Chandler to talk about how she rebuilt her routine after years of neurological and fatigue symptoms—and why a simple, repeatable brain fitness practice became her turning point.

Allie is a marketing strategist specializing in functional medicine practices. With over a decade of experience and a Master’s degree in Writing from California College of the Arts, she’s led marketing and branding initiatives for companies such as Microbe Formulas, CellCore Biosciences, and Microbiome Labs. After overcoming chronic Lyme disease and other health challenges, Allie founded Upsell Health, where she helps functional medicine practitioners grow their practices through authentic, strategy-driven marketing.

In this episode, we discuss calming the nervous system, supporting theta brainwave states, and creating morning/evening rhythms that make high performance sustainable (not exhausting).

    What you’ll learn:

-Why downshifting the fight-or-flight response is step one for clarity and focus

-How light + sound brainwave sessions fit into a daily routine (morning & night)

-The difference between “forcing” neurofeedback vs. gently guiding your brain state

-Practical ways to protect your energy at work and wind down before bed

Who this helps: high performers, caregivers, and anyone feeling wired-and-tired who wants practical steps to regain focus, emotional regulation, and productivity.

If it resonates, share it with someone who needs a calmer start and a better night routine. What’s one small change you can make to your morning or evening routine this week?
