HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!! We are so excited to hearken back (get it :)) to Deborah Harkness’s first book in the All Souls series, A Discovery of Witches! We read this about 10 years ago and luckily all the nostalgic feels from this fantasy book came back.

Christine brings you a chamomile tea latte, cocktail version. Why? Because we needed to make a book cocktail using ingredients that Matthew & Diana say each other smelled like, of course. We call it the “DATTHEW” - This is the couple's name and we will not be taking feedback at this time.

We dive into Discovery of Witches and chat Matthew Clairmont (only allowed to be said in a French accent), wine and tea, patriarchal dynamics (wow we’re fun), negative reviews, idyllic settings, Ysabeau (ugh, love her), and what we would name our magic houses.

As per usual we bring you our castings and MVP of the episode!

Check out our other Nostalgic read episodes and romantasy series breakdowns.

It’s our last Fourth Wing episode!! This book gave us the romantasy jolt we could never forget, so this book holds a special place in our hearts.

Christine brings you a cocktail in honour of a beloved character Liam Mairi. He is the bestest friend and he needs a bestest friend cocktail. It is a take on a gimlet cocktail with muddled rosemary and strawberry.

We chat everything Fourth Wing finale. That means we get more flirty Xaden (and more), Violet’s signet, love triangle, and an epic battle that leaves us all weeping. THEN the cliffhanger UGHHHH.

As per usual we bring you our castings and MVP of the episode!

We are breaking down these books in 4 parts. We will not chat about the plot beyond the book we are covering. SO if you have not made it to Iron Flame or Onyx Storm yet, no worries here!

Our Fourth Wing journey continues with Part 3 of 4. The tension is building AHHHH.

Jamie brings you a cocktail for the best character in this book, Tairneanach, son of Murtcuideam and Fiaclanfuil, descended from the cunning Dubhmadinn line. She finally got to do her milk-washed paper plane cocktail!

We chat Fourth Wing, which includes some epic scenes - THE. KISS., someone dies (WHAT!?), Garrick and Xaden shirtless sparring, squad battle, and the Outpost visit where Xaden-Violet flirtations are rampant.

As per usual we bring you our castings and MVP of the episode!

We continue the Empyrean series with Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros Part 2! We want to have book chats about this book series for the next 7 years, but unfortunately we are only doing a 4-part book breakdown. HELP!

Jamie brings you a Xaden Riorson cocktail that is trendy and hip, just like us old ladies. It’s Xaden Riorson’s Dirty Soda. Except she ACTUALLY made it dirty by making it a cocktail. It’s a dangerous, dangerous cocktail for you bad bad girls.

We fly into Fourth Wing (see what I did there? Sorry that was bad. Bad, bad? Sorry again.), and chat The Gauntlet, Threshing, how to say Tairneanach very badly, Dain’s infuriating behaviour, and how Violet gets the ick!

As per usual we bring you our castings and MVP of the episode!

It’s the Empyrean series, baby! We felt it was time for a Fourth Wing re-read. Not only a re-read though, we are breaking down this book series and savouring every minute of it.

Christine brings you an ode to Violet Sorrengail. It’s a peach and blueberry slush with lavender syrup. It was the perfect violet cocktail for Violet.

We get into Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros. We chat the epic series intro on the parapet, Xaden’s very flattering description, Dain’s overprotection, and Jack’s murderous ways.

As per usual we bring you our castings and MVP of the episode!

We wondered, would we still love From Blood & Ash years later? The consensus has consensed. Let’s talk about Casteel and Poppy, you guys!!

Jamie brings you a smoked Old Fashioned. Smoke, craven, get it? Jamie finally got to use a smoker YAY.

We chat all the Blood & Ash nonsense that we know and love. We re-visit the best scenes, including The Red Pearl, Willa Collins, under the willow tree, one horse travels, and the big reveal.

NEW ACHIEVEMENT! It’s our first Nostalgic Read episode. REWARD? Our bad Princess Donut impressions.

We’re pumped to re-visit the first book in the Dungeon Crawler Carl series by Matt Dinniman. It’s outrageous, violent, fun, disturbing, and hilarious. I truly never knew I needed a man and his ex-girlfriend’s cat entering an dystopian game game, but I really did.

Christine brings you A Canadian Dirty Shirley. It’s Princess Donut’s favourite drink and I know she would love a splash of orange juice. It was delicious.

We dive into the Dungeon Crawl and meet Carl and Donut. We get so much more though with a fun cast of new friends, neighbourhood boss battles, and out-of-world evils that is only the start of this epic series.
