"Media theorist Marshall Mcluhan, back in the his laws of Media, stated that all new media and technology brings back a former obsolete media and technology. For instance, podcasting has brought back law, long form interview, radio style. And then with the advent of digital books, everybody wanted to go to libraries and read physical books. And physical book sales have actually soared in the past few years."

  • @BobHutchins | Be skeptical of anyone who tells you they have a universal key to success.

"Be skeptical of anyone who tells you that they have the universal key to success for any situation, especially life situations, business, marketing because things change, things are disrupted. There's a principle in psychology called the wishful seeing bias. And you may have experienced this. You're walking down the street, you're going to go into your favorite store, but about 10ft in front on the sidewalk, you see something that looks like a $20 bill and you race quickly to pick it up before anyone."

  • @BobHutchins | The benefits of being bored! Have we lost it?

"Have you ever noticed when you're waiting in line or have a few seconds of boredom that your reflex is to pick up and scroll? Real life used to be full of meditation, but it was called boredom. We sat in waiting rooms with nothing but outdated magazines. We drove with nothing but a radio and the view. We waited in line and just had to well, wait. We had no idea how essential those boring moments were until we no longer had them."

"The best way to understand what people really want is to listen to them directly. Just like how the best way to know what your friend likes for their birthday or what they want is to ask them. The best way to know what people want in a product or service is to ask them anything in life, any relationship and most of all, listen to the answer."

"Here's a simple life hack that works pretty well. Those things in your life that aren't working and don't bring you joy, do less of that. The things that do bring you joy and are working do more of that. I realize that sometimes life isn't that simple, but sometimes it really is. You just need to realize it. Sit down today, make a list. Two columns what's working and what's not. And really think hard about it."

  • @BobHutchins | The rise of the bias virus

"The next would be automation bias. Again, when AI reply or rely too heavily on systems that override judgment or intuition. So if the doctor uses AI to determine medical conditions, they may be more likely to trust the system diagnosis rather than they're in observations. And then there's proximity bias. Again, location based. If you're using AI to allocate public resources in a region, it may favor certain geographic regions over others. Survivorship bias."

"And most of what you need to do requires that you slow down to do it. You see, in the digital world, you're trained to need and want everything to be accomplished faster than before. Another one is. Staying human means coming to terms with the mystery and the paradox of humanity. You're not going to come across many things that are absolutely good or bad in your life. For example, a forest fire is devastating, but it allows for new growth."

  • @BobHutchins | Decision Fatigue is real! Here are some tips to help.

"So let's talk about decision fatigue. Working from home causes us to have more things to do and more decisions. We can't just leave it all. It's right there with us. So for example, in addition to work items, I may be thinking about picking up a child from school or dropping them off at school, or running errands during lunch. Maybe picking up the house a bit before spouse or roommate comes home walking the dog. This creates something called cognitive load."
