  • Glaucoma risk, dry eye breakthroughs & Creatine for weight loss
    2026/01/10
Today’s episode of Ask the Dr was hosted by Dr. Michael Lange and Dr. Susan Summerton, delivering an information-packed program focused on eye health, wellness, longevity, and disease prevention. 🎭 Mardi Gras Extravaganza Announcement The doctors announced the upcoming Mardi Gras Extravaganza at the Lange Eye Institute, taking place February 21st in The Villages. Everyone is invited to attend this fun, educational, community event. 💪 Fortifeye Super Vegan Protein BOGO Dr. Lange discussed the Buy One, Get One FREE promotion currently running on Fortifeye Super Vegan Protein, available for a limited time on the Fortifeye website. 👁️ Dry Eye Treatment – Natural & Advanced Options Both doctors reviewed comprehensive dry eye care, including: • Lid hygiene and lid scrubs • Warm/hot compress therapy • Omega-3 fish oil, emphasizing rTG (re-esterified triglyceride) omega-3, such as Fortifeye Super Omega They also discussed advanced in-office treatments: • Lumenis OptiLight (IPL therapy) • Lumenis OptiLift to help lower-lid laxity and meibomian gland dysfunction 🏋️ Creatine & Weight Management The doctors reviewed new and existing research showing that creatine: • Supports muscle strength, energy, and overall health • May help build muscle while supporting fat loss • Can be used as part of a weight-management strategy, not just for athletes Both doctors discuss the soon to be available Fortifeye Fit Meal one of the most advanced meal replacemnts on the market. 🟢 Glaucoma Awareness Month – Natural Support In recognition of Glaucoma Awareness Month, the doctors discussed: • Natural strategies that may support optic nerve health • The role of omega-3 fatty acids, Mirtogenol, and Neumentix in supporting ocular blood flow ⚠️ These natural approaches do NOT replace medical or surgical glaucoma treatment and are intended only to complement prescribed care. Period. 👁️ Ocular Perfusion Pressure & Blood Pressure The doctors explained how ocular perfusion pressure (OPP) plays a critical role in glaucoma risk and how both high and low blood pressure can negatively affect optic nerve blood flow. They emphasized that low diastolic blood pressure, especially at night, can significantly reduce ocular perfusion pressure. Multiple studies show that individuals with low OPP may have a 2–6× higher risk of developing glaucoma. A diastolic ocular perfusion pressure (DOPP) below ~50 mmHg is associated with: • Higher glaucoma prevalence • Faster disease progression • Increased optic nerve damage The key takeaway: glaucoma is not only an eye-pressure disease—it is also a vascular disease. Proper blood-pressure management is a critical part of glaucoma care. Patients with glaucoma should always work closely with their eye doctor and primary care physician. This information is educational and supportive—not a replacement for treatment. • Live longer, think sharper, see better: New Years Resolutions to help you thrive & not just survive
    2025/12/27

In today’s episode of Ask the Dr., Dr. Michael Lange and Dr. Susan Summerton kick off the New Year with science-backed resolutions designed to help you live longer, think clearer, and thrive—not just survive.

We dive deep into the power of resistance training for cognitive health and longevity, citing multiple studies showing reduced mortality, improved brain function, and healthier aging. Strength training isn’t just about muscles—it’s about protecting your brain and extending lifespan.

We also discuss the critical role of omega-3 fatty acids, highlighting compelling research showing reductions in atrial fibrillation, cardiovascular death, heart attacks, and strokes. Dr. Lange explains why the form of omega-3 matters, recommending rTG or TG forms—and why re-esterified triglyceride omega-3s are among the doctors’ top New Year’s choices. We also cover RTG omega-3s for dry eye disease and ocular surface health.

The doctors break down the benefits of advanced dry eye treatments, including Lumenis OptiLight IPL and OptiLift, explaining how these technologies can improve blink dynamics, reduce inflammation, and dramatically relieve dry eye symptoms.

Nutrition takes center stage as we explore why consuming up to 10 servings of fruits and vegetables daily is associated with reduced chronic disease risk and premature death. We also discuss sports nutrition and body recomposition—how to lose fat while building muscle—using targeted supplementation.

Dr. Lange outlines the Fortifeye Vitality Bundle, which combines:

    Fortifeye Fit Pro
    Fortifeye Vegan Protein
    Fortifeye Rejuvenate
    Creatine, myHMB, and Vitamin D

This stack is designed to support muscle recovery, strength, metabolism, and healthy aging, especially when paired with resistance training.

We also emphasize the importance of carbohydrates after workouts to replenish muscle glycogen and accelerate recovery—an often-overlooked key to performance and longevity.

Finally, we stress the importance of routine comprehensive eye exams, including advanced imaging with OptiMap. The eye truly is a window to the body—and these tools can be vision-saving and potentially life-saving by detecting early signs of systemic disease.

This episode is about early prevention, smart nutrition, strength, and mindset—because the goal is not just to survive longer, but to thrive at every stage of life.

  • Omega 3s, Resistance Training, reducing Clot risk & Brain Health: The Science of Living Longer
    2025/12/20

Today’s Ask the Dr. talk show was co-hosted by Dr. Michael Lange and Roger Schulman, and it was an outstanding broadcast from start to finish.

Dr. Lange and Roger reviewed multiple omega-3 studies, highlighting how higher baseline omega-3 blood levels are associated with significant reductions in heart attacks, strokes, atrial fibrillation, and overall cardiovascular risk. They emphasized that omega-3 status before disease develops plays a critical role in long-term outcomes. The newest studies prove that higher omega 3 levels in the blood reduces atrial fibrillation events. High quality, bioavailable rTG omega 3 taken daily is the key. Dr Lange is involved in continuous research in the omega 3 field and developed Fortifeye Super Omega and Fortifeye Super Omega 3 Max. These omega 3 fish oils are concentrated and purified in the top omega 3 research and development centers in Norway.

The show also covered a new and exciting study demonstrating that as little as 60 minutes of resistance training per week can reduce all-cause mortality by up to 27%, reinforcing the importance of strength training for longevity. However, he does sate you will have to do more weight training than 10 minutes a day to really build muscle and strength. He also states you must "pound the protein" to build muscle. Dr Lange and Roger spoke about long airplane trips and the risk of clots and DVTs from flying and being sedimentary while on the flight. They discussed ways to prevent clots and health issues while on the plane that may save your life.

During a live caller discussion, Dr. Lange explained the brain-supporting nutrients found in Fortifeye Focus and Fortifeye Focus & Brain, outlining how specific ingredients help support memory, cognition, and long-term brain health.

Several callers and Roger spoke warmly about Dr. Lange’s mother, Betty Lange, noting how remarkably sharp and “with it” she remains at 98 years young, serving as a real-world example of healthy aging.

Dr. Lange also briefly previewed a new kids’ gummy prototype currently in development, formulated with clinically studied amounts of lutein, astaxanthin, and zeaxanthin—designed to support eye and brain health in children without sacrificing quality or science.

Additionally, Dr. Lange explained the importance of using a high-quality rTG-form omega-3, how inferior products differ, and how consumers can determine whether their omega-3 supplement is truly effective. He always preaches to buy tg omega 3 or rTG omega 3 fish oil and stay away from the ethyl ester (ee) form on omega 3 fish oil.

The show ran smoothly with no technical issues, strong listener engagement, and excellent dialogue throughout—another successful and informative episode of Ask the Dr.
