Clementina Bianchi is back where they started - the Titan city of New Penzance - with a vengeance. Determined to prove themself, Clem has started a new type of job for Strelitzia, whose plans to rebel against the city's entertainment-obsessed elite edges closer to its climax. Clementina Bianchi has traveled to the far-flung colony of Last Vestige in search of Balth Farrow, another courier with ties to Strelitzia. They've found him - and he wants them gone. Balth Farrow. Clem Bianchi has had the name lodged in the back of their head since they got off New Penzance, after getting ensnared in Strelitzia's plans for the city. Clem doesn't know Balth, but knows that he, too, is a recipient of the Letter Opener, giving him the same window into clients' lives that has gotten Clem into weeks of trouble. After coming across his new address, Clem decides to pay him a visit the only way couriers know how - by delivering his mail.

When they take a side job, they encroach on pizza delivery driver turf - the land of the mail courier's oldest rival. A fast rivalry with a passionate pizza pusher turns into an all-out drag race across the streets of Volnutt, with a 10-year-old's birthday party hanging in the balance.
