Today, we’re joined by David Maxwell Migoti, a Kenyan paramedic, healthcare operations professional, clinical instructor and emergency preparedness practitioner, whose career spans frontline emergency care, ambulance and healthcare transport operations, quality improvement, risk management, disaster preparedness and emergency-care education.

David currently serves as a Transport Coordinator at Avenue Healthcare Hospital in Kisumu and as a Clinical Instructor at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology, MMUST. He is also a World Health Organisation Basic Emergency Care Provider and Instructor.

Holding a Bachelor of Science in Paramedical Science, David has a particular interest in strengthening EMS systems across Africa through improved operations, quality and patient safety, education, research and digital health.

In this episode, we explore David’s career journey, what it’s like to work across both clinical and educational roles, the challenges faced by paramedics in Kenya, the impact of technology on emergency care, access to continuing medical education, and where he believes the profession could go over the next five years.

His expertise provides an important perspective on the development of legal and regulatory frameworks that shape healthcare practice and professional standards.
