あらすじ・解説

In this follow-up to the international phenomenon The Courage to Be Disliked, discover how to reconnect with your true self, experience true happiness, and live the life you want.

What if one simple choice could unlock your destiny?

Already a major Japanese best seller, this eye-opening and accessible follow-up to the “compelling” (Marc Andreessen) international phenomenon The Courage to Be Disliked shares the powerful teachings of Alfred Adler, one of the giants of 19th-century psychology, through another illuminating dialogue between the philosopher and the young man.

Three years after their first conversation, the young man finds himself disillusioned and disappointed, convinced Adler’s teachings only work in theory, not in practice. But through further discussions between the philosopher and the young man, they deepen their own understandings of Adler’s powerful teachings, and learn the tools needed to apply Adler’s teachings to the chaos of everyday life.

To be enjoyed on its own or as a companion to the best-selling first book, The Courage to Be Happy reveals a bold new way of thinking and living, empowering you to let go of the shackles of past trauma and the expectations of others, and to use this freedom to create the life you truly desire.

Plainspoken yet profoundly moving, listening to The Courage to Be Happy will light a torch with the power to illuminate your life and brighten the world as we know it. Discover the courage to choose happiness.

Amazing content, if you can tolerate narration

Again, life changing content that is difficult to find anywhere else. I've read hundreds of books on science, philosophy, etc but this book (and the earlier one) had insights I was not exposed to earlier. The biggest issue is with the performance of the young man which was so annoying that it was hard to get through the book. Big nonsensical emotional outbursts over and over with every new philosophical point. Tedious. The books have such great content that I'll want to read them multiple times, but I'll have to get the text version because I don't think I can listen to this performance again.

Excellent content If you can handle the narrator.

Literally everything one of the narrators says is in a childish, adversarial and whiny tone. Holy hell. The whole book could have done without his commentary entirely.

was very easy to listen to and kept me engaged... the back and forth discussion was will balanced and didn't feel too controlled.

Absolutely wonderful

What I like most is the way ideas presented in everyday terms. Very easy to follow, yet the meaning is very deep.

Good

Good but somewhat culty here and there. Yes the boy is annoying but is so to show the extremes. Biology, and cross cultural adaptation is not mentioned aswell which would benefit the listener.

life changing

The courage to be disliked was wonderful. This one managed to be 100x better. But I still don't get why the youth had to be so disrespectful hehe

it's a philosophical book

honestly, I love the book because it uses a very rational and reasonable approach in how to see things in a logical perspective. The way the philosopher explains adlerian psychology makes a lot of sense and make you want to learn more about it. but, I hate how the kid is so rude and arrogant.

Nicely done.

This is an excellent continuation with additional insights. Short but with great impact on the understanding of friendship, work and love.
