あらすじ・解説

There can be no victory without sacrifice.

The Iron Wolves are a company of legionnaires whose legendary exploits date back to the Savage Wars. When they are invited to be guests of honor at a ceremony on a small, backwater planet, they look forward to some precious time away from the constant conflicts of galaxy's edge.

But when a neighboring country invades, disrupting the ceremony and killing innocents, the Wolves are forced to make an impossible decision. Aid a people pleading for their protection...or obey the cynical orders of their senate to stand down and see how the dust settles.

Taking their careers and lives into their hands, the Iron Wolves and local militia form a brotherhood determined to fight for what they believe in. War is on the wind, the battle is at hand, and the Legion is on the move once more.

Strap on your bucket, grab your blaster, and start listening today. The Iron Wolves call, and death is on the hunt.

What a waste

Waste of time and money. I love the galaxies edge series. Not sure who wrote this one. It was painful. Narration was well done. Unfortunately the story itself was shallow and written for 6th graders. A completely Wasted credit.

Did a Point write this

I was honestly disappointed with the book it doesn’t really flow with all the other books. It was way to cheesy, and when did the legion become Marines and say Oorah.

Not legion material.

Compared to the rest of the galaxies edge series, this reads more like a points fever dream.

Doesn't hold up to the standard

This isn't a bad book. It's worth the listen. But it definitely falls short of the Galaxy's Edge standard. If this was a story about the Marines or basics of Galaxy's Edge it would be OK. But it falls short on the notes of character, banter, heart and KTF that has driven the previous books.
Also, while I have thoroughly enjoyed this reader on other books, he just doesn't fit well into this one.
Decent book. Fills the time. It's definitely not Legion.

Horrendous Narrator

I’m not just saying the narrator was bad because he isn’t RC Bray, the first order of the centurion had a new guy and he did fine. This narrator was distracting, inconsistent and frankly hard to listen to.

He shifted tone and intensity so abruptly and seemingly randomly (often mid sentence) that it was hard to pay attention to what was going on. He also tried to add so much emotion into like every single exchange that it made just normal character development dialogue or exposition seem super cheesy and obnoxious, detracting from the quality of the writing.

Further, I never had any idea who was talking. He had a ton of different voices but he used them all for everyone. Captain Zeno and Doc were the only two I could (usually) identify by voice everyone else seemed like their voice got picked at random at the start of every sentence (pretty much everyone went through a Scottish phase at least twice)

As for the book itself, the plot and characters seemed more silly than most of the other galaxies edge material. I honestly couldn’t tell you if that was because the reader made it seem that way or it’s genuinely the case but I did get the impression that there was an absence of the grounding which makes this series work so well.

Narration

Poorly narrated by Jonathan Davis, could not even finish the book, not worth the purchase.

Disappointing

The rest of the galaxy's edge books are top notch, but this one really fails to live up to the expectations set by it's predecessors. Anspach and Cole's guest author comes across as though he is writing about a subject he doesn't truly understand, or at least lacks the ability to authentically portray. The dialogue is particularly awkward.

Reads like Fanfic for Galaxy's edge

it lacked the depth and gravity of the other stories, I almost returned it half way through but persevered to cement the idea with myself that all future spinoffs of this series are going to need to prove themselves or be returned.

Narrator was ok, his constant over emphasis didn't sit well with me.

Couldn't take the performance

The story seemed good enough but I couldn't take the performance. The voices all seemed fake and I just kept thinking how no one talks or sounds like any of these characters. I'm usually pretty forgiving but after chapter 6 I couldn't go on listening.

Amazing the difference between the two books

... and not in a good way.

Most of the characters were so non-circumstantial that they really didn't need to have names. The main legionnaire, Sam Samson, was uninteresting and his primary battle skill seemed to be him going into berserker mode during tense battle situations. There was a budding relationship interest between him and a local tracker but I stopped listening before the quarter point since even that seemed a bit too clichéd to keep me interested.

Jonathan Davis has an excellent narrator voice but his performance left a lot to be desired. The repeated shouting during different scenes was most unwelcome. It may work in a movie context but is generally grating in an audiobook format, imo.

It just lacked substance this time. Somehow I expected more from this series. You just cannot compare it to the others.

It’s not great

Felt like I was forcing myself to listen to this book. Story was poor, banter wasn’t great, the plot I worked out from the start...just not good.

Going to return book and listen to the next one...because all of he other books I have listen to in the galaxy edge series so far have been very good.

Trope city

I know the creative process is hard. I do it for a living. I can’t in all honesty let this lazy, trope riddled mess pass muster. I love the Galaxy’s Edge books. But this offering leaves no obvious stone unturned. All the low hanging fruit is picked and consumed with such gusto it results in verbal indigestion. Sorry but this is undiluted arse Gravy of the first water. Can I have my money back please...

Oh man.

Fenra and Sola were real potential and the story premise was solid with the militia and rebels, but the Major in orbit just wouldn't have gone like that regardless, the first third of the story being political for no real gain, and the cringe amount of oorah just didn't pull me in. Save your free credit for this one. Honestly, skip it really. I adored the Order of the Centurion, but not this one. It could've been something special like book 1,but wasn't. Sorry.

Not worthy of the Galaxy Edge series

Easily the worst story of the Galaxy Edge series. It's just another jar head story that doesnt add anything to the Galaxy Edge universe. The story is predictable, and outright boring. I do not recommend this book at all. You can happily skip it and not miss anything.

Not a bad entry but nothing special. Always good to get more backstory and lore, but undecided as to whether it was worth the credit. Story was predictable but the characters were good considering the short time you had to establish any sort of back story / connection.

Overall, don't go out of your way to read / listen, but if you want something extra it's good to go.

Absolutely Terrible

The poor acting and sooky legionnaires made this story seem to go on for ever. The first book in the series was alright but I couldn't wait for this to end.

As expected, first rate story.

Another "Page turner." It has kept within the nature of the story. I whole heartedly recommend it.
