The Amazon Fire Tablet restricts you to the Amazon Appstore, but the Fire Tablet runs the Fire OS, based on Android. You can install the Google Play Store and also gain access to all Android apps, like Gmail, Google Maps, Chrome, Hangouts, and over one million apps in Google Play.
This action doesn’t require rooting your Fire Tablet. After running the script below, this process won't take more than half an hour; you will be free to use the Play Store just as you could on any other Android device. You can, however, install a regular Android launcher and then turn your Fire into a more traditional Android device.
There are two ways of doing this. One involves installing few APK files on your tablet, and the other involves running a script from a Windows PC. The first method is simpler, but due to the finicky nature of these methods, we included both here.
