Havelock Emerald

In this Mythic Fantasy series, the Havelock Emerald is an Irish pub located in the small suburb of Havelock, Nebraska. The Emerald’s iconic stained-glass window, depicting a black dragon carrying a bright green emerald in its talons, was gifted to Billy Connors by a Gypsy Chieftain back in Ireland years ago. In the pub is a gateway to an alternate reality. Old Billy is an Irish gunrunner and the gatekeeper linking this world with the alternative realms beyond.

When Lucas is placed in foster care due to a violent altercation between his biker father and his mom, he ends up in the home of a police officer. Lucas is conflicted about who he should be loyal to. The turmoil of living in a home with boundaries and consequences, stresses him out. On the day, his family support worker, Ben Black Bull, escorts him to anger management, Lucas blows out of his class and races to a downtown parking garage, where he threatens to jump to the street sixth stories below.

Shortly after his mother is killed in a car accident, Lucas leaves foster care at Wounded Arrow and returns home to Havelock to live with his dad. At his elementary school, Lucas stumbles upon three Muslim boys forcefully recruiting a young Muslim boy to carry out a school shooting. Lucas intervenes on behalf of Ali Kharim and comes away from the encounter carrying a pistol with scorpions engraved on its pearl handles. Little does he know that inserted into the butt of the gun is a flash drive.

This is the fourth book in the Havelock Emerald series, where Lucas, Alex, and Celeste find themselves back in the realm of Valasar. They find themselves in a quest to not only slay a dragon, but a conspiracy to save one, as well.

Jenna and her Delta team discover a trove of magical jewels. Chris Lone Hawk, a dog handler on her team, hides these jewels in a Lord of the Rings Chess set and smuggles them into America.

Inside of Havelock's Emerald Pub is a mysterious room. A wooden plaque beside the door reads, "There be Dragons." When three juvenile delinquents enter the room, they are transported to the realm of Valasar. Where dragons can sure ruin one's day!
