When Lucas is placed in foster care due to a violent altercation between his biker father and his mom, he ends up in the home of a police officer. Lucas is conflicted about who he should be loyal to. The turmoil of living in a home with boundaries and consequences, stresses him out. On the day, his family support worker, Ben Black Bull, escorts him to anger management, Lucas blows out of his class and races to a downtown parking garage, where he threatens to jump to the street sixth stories below.
After Ben performs crisis intervention, he drives Lucas to Wounded Arrow, his dog rescue ranch where the Lakota dog handler works with some of the most damaged pit bulls on the planet. In order to calm the savage beasts, Ben incorporates a company of veterans who suffer from PTSD, pairing each dog with a Wounded Warrior.
At Wounded Arrow, Lucas learns that dogs and people are much alike, they all need healing of some sort.
