The shadows lengthen, the candles gutter, and the dead have not finished with the living. Within this second volume of Halloween Haunts are six classic stories that have unsettled readers for generations. The Body-Snatcher by Robert Louis Stevenson — a chance meeting in a country inn, and a night's work that two men have never been able to put behind them. Since I Died by Elizabeth Stuart Phelps — a woman's ghost beside one she loved, longing to be heard by someone who cannot hear.

The pages turn, the narrator begins, and the world of "once upon a time" opens once more.

President Robert Thompson, ensnared in a fetish-related scandal and facing imminent impeachment, fakes his own assassination with the help of his ambitious wife and psychiatrist. His goal? To secure his legacy and vanish to an island. This satirical tale follows Thompson’s transformation from disgraced politician to mythic hero. As story plot unfolds, his psychiatrist, Petros Andros (Pete), finds himself entangled in a web of deceit, obsession, and indiscretions of his own.
