Following on from Closed for Repairs, I was hoping for a year to enjoy all the things I had lost. A quiet year. That was not to be. The very act of recovery sparked a whole series of challenges and these started immediately. This book traverses a very eventful and fraught year. I had my mind back but how things have changed.

My brain served me though very well throughout my life. Until one day in 2015 it didn’t. I first suffered an extreme, sustained mania that did not switch off for two months no matter how tired or medicated I was. Then, after the mania stopped, so did my brain function. It was like a light that burns so bright it burns itself out. I could no longer think, talk, or even understand what was going on. I was just an observer to the world, seeing but not comprehending.
