It's an ordinary Thursday lunchtime for Arthur Dent until his house gets demolished. The Earth follows shortly afterwards to make way for a new hyperspace bypass and his best friend has just announced that he's an alien. At this moment, they're hurtling through space with nothing but their towels and an innocuous-looking book inscribed with the big, friendly words: DON'T PANIC. The weekend has only just begun . . .

Seconds before the Earth is demolished to make way for a galactic freeway, Arthur Dent is plucked off the planet by his friend Ford Prefect, a researcher for the revised edition of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy who, for the last 15 years, has been posing as an out-of-work actor.

When Earthman Arthur Dent learns that first his house and then his planet are about to be bulldozed, it’s the beginning of an interplanetary adventure for him and his friend, Ford Prefect. After fleeing Earth they hitch a lift with hoopy frood Zaphod Beeblebrox, who hurtles from one improbability to another - literally. With Trillian and Marvin the Paranoid Android in tow, the answer to life, the universe and everything is soon revealed: 42. But what was the question?

A dynamic remastering of the original BBC Radio 4 full-cast serial - Fit the First to Fit the Sixth - which spawned a phenomenal hitchhiking legend. The original series of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, remastered by Dirk Maggs (director of the Tertiary, Quandary and Quintessential Phases) to give a full, vibrant sound, now with Philip Pope’s version of the familiar theme tune and specially re-recorded announcements by John Marsh.

What do a dead cat, a computer whiz-kid, an electric monk who believes the world is pink, quantum mechanics, a chronologist over 200 years old, Samuel Taylor Coleridge (poet) and pizza have in common? There’s nothing worse than a frustrated teenager with a copy of the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy in their hands. There is a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss. It’s not an easy thing to do and Arthur Dent thinks he’s the only human who’s been able to master this nifty little trick - until he meets Fenchurch, the girl of his dreams. Po tisíciletích ožívá nebezpečí, že poměrně mírumilovný národ s citem pro melodii podlehne svému děsu z jiných vesmírných ras a na druhý pokus se s nimi vypořádá jednou provždy.

Ve druhé části slavné série začínající po skáze planety Země, nejprve bývalý galaktický prezident Zafod Bíblbrox, zkušený vesmírný stopař Ford Prefect, jeho pozemský kamarád Arthur Dent a dívka Trillian jen o vlásek uniknout jisté smrti z pracek tupých Vogonů. Po řadě neuvěřitelných peripetií, zahrnující setkání s absolutním vládcem vesmíru, se cesty přátel opět spojí aby se vydali na cestu časem do nejluxusnější restaurace, jaká kdy existovala či bude existovat.

Praticamente Inofensiva é tão polêmico quanto seu criador. Parte dessa controvérsia se deve aos 13 anos que separam este livro da primeira aventura de Arthur Dent, já que Adams iniciou a coleção no final dos anos 1970 e somente em 1992 retomou a história.

Depois de oito anos vagando pelos mais insondáveis cantos da Galáxia, Arthur Dent está de volta à Terra e tudo parece estranhamente normal.
