Ascoltare "Marsina stretta" ci permette di immergerci in pieno in tutto l'umorismo pirandelliano. Tutto parte da un abito scomodo, la "marsina stretta" appunto, che opprime il Professor Gori, colpevole di avere qualche chilo di troppo. Ma sarà proprio quest'abito da cerimonia troppo stretto a rappresentare una svolta nella storia, tra drammi imprevisti e colpi di sorpresa paradossali in puro stile pirandelliano.

"Notizie dal mondo" è senza dubbio una delle novelle più particolari di Pirandello. Tommaso Aversa tutte le sere racconta le principali notizie della giornata all'amico Giacomone, amico che però è defunto. Questo dialogo immaginario, per quanto assurdo, è di gran conforto a Tommaso che ha quasi l'illusione di avere ancora a fianco il vecchio amico scomparso. Poi però qualcosa si spezza e per dieci mesi Tommaso lascia all'oscuro il vecchio amico. Alla fine tornerà a parlare con lui soltanto una volta, per confessargli di aver finalmente compreso il rapporto tra vita e morte.

"La prima notte" venne pubblicata da Pirandello per la prima volta nel 1900. Nel 1922 venne poi inclusa nella raccolta "Scialle nero" all'interno di "Novelle per un anno". In questa storia paradossale e velata di profonda tristezza assistiamo al matrimonio tra il vecchio Don Lisi Chirico, vedovo custode di cimitero, e la giovane Mariastella, rimasta sola a causa del naufragio del padre e del suo promesso sposo.

Una sera, quest'ultimo, che in miniera ha il compito di controllare i minatori, vuole farli restare a lavorare per finire il carico di quel giorno, ma non viene assecondato da tutti. Gli unici a trattenersi sono Zi' Scarda e Ciàula che, sebbene sia molto stanco, non si tira indietro ed ubbidisce.
