Romans is the first of the epistles to be penned by the Apostle Paul. As its name suggests, it was written directly to the newly founded Christian church in Rome, which was struggling to uphold the beliefs and morals of Christianity. Jesus' entire life is depicted in these passages and portrays the Messiah not as an untouchable figure of greatness but as the more attainable and relatable Son of Man.

The Gospel of Mark focuses on the adult life of Jesus during his ministry up to his death and resurrection. As the shortest of the Gospels, Mark emphasises the briefness of Jesus' life and the ever-present recognition that his time on Earth was both to serve mankind and to give the ultimate sacrifice of his death.

The book of Matthew is the first book of the New Testament and the first of the Gospels to be written by one of the disciples of Jesus. Matthew testifies to the sacred lineage of Christ, proving his legitimacy as the Messiah and the Son of God. It also contains the story of Jesus' life, from his conception to his resurrection, making this book a wonderful transition from the Old Testament to the New, as it demonstrates the fulfillment of the prophecies regarding the Messiah.
