Stupisce che questi quattro racconti di Scerbanenco non siano stati notati e ripubblicati prima d'ora, per la verità che portano, nonché la loro importanza di testimonianza su come fu vissuto un periodo storico. Forse perché la successiva fama di inventore della "Milano calibro nove" mise in ombra l'altra, importante, produzione dello scrittore. Sono racconti di guerra, ambientati negli anni feroci.
