Home at last—but not yet safe. In Samuel Butler’s classic prose rendering, Odysseus (Ulysses) is borne sleeping to Ithaca by the generous Phaeacians, while Poseidon exacts a terrible price. Shrouded in Athena’s mist, he awakens on unknown shores, hides his treasure in the Naiads’ cave...

Home at last—but not yet revealed. In Books 17 and 18 of Homer’s Odyssey, Odysseus reaches Ithaca in a beggar’s rags, tests the hearts of men, and steels himself for justice. He and the loyal swineherd Eumaeus enter the city; the goatherd Melanthius sneers; faithful Argos lifts his head...

With these poems, Jane Piirto braids the connections among her Upper Peninsula roots, her Finnish heritage, and the Finnish epic poem, Kalevala. "The connection to the ancient Kalevala adds a dimension to the mystery, wonder, awe (or maybe historical DNA)...engages all senses-vibrant colors, the smell of fall apples cooking, swimming in cold Lake Superior, drinking strawberry pop after sauna, and hearing the call of northland wildlife."—Diane Salo Montgomery, Distinguished Professor of Educational Psychology, Emerita, Oklahoma State University

Seventeen years old. Olmsted Park. A bedsheet tied to a tree. Sad Boy begins with a failed suicide attempt. Across four acts and an interlude, Chris Schneider reconstructs what came afterward: forced hospitalization, social rejection, first love, sex, violence, broken promises, and graduation staged as a mock execution. The poems turn horror films, emo music, revolutionary history, and black comedy into a private language for experiences that resist being told plainly.

A celebration of the moon, of life and of love, from one of Australia's most loved authors. By turns romantic and realist, Bruce Pascoe explores the urgency of the contemporary climate crisis and the need to love Country in his haunting, slow-burning and classical poetry style. This is startlingly vulnerable poetry to heal the Earth, to navigate heartache and to provoke stillness and introspection.
