Nacido en Italia en el año 1224, Aquino fue un teólogo y filósofo católico perteneciente a la Orden de Predicadores, principal representante de la tradición escolástica, y fundador de la escuela tomista de teología y filosofía. Conocido también como Doctor Angélico o Doctor Común, es considerado santo por la Iglesia Católica y autor de la gran "Suma Teológica", tratado en el cual pretende exponer de modo ordenado la doctrina católica.

Sin dudas, el iniciador de la indagación racional sobre el universo, considerado el primer filósofo de la historia de la filosofía occidental, y el fundador de la escuela jónica de filosofía, según el testimonio de Aristóteles. Primero y más famoso de los Siete Sabios de Grecia (el sabio astrónomo), habría tenido como discípulo y protegido, según la tradición, a Pitágoras.

Fue un político, estadista e ideólogo chino. Primer presidente de la República de China y fundador del Kuomintang, es considerado tanto en la República Popular China como en la actual República de China (Taiwán) como el padre de la China moderna.

Extraordinario filósofo y escritor ruso con orientación mística, fue autor de varios libros de temática espiritual y esotérica, que lo hicieron escritor de culto y un conferencista destacado que recorrió el mundo exponiendo sus ideas acerca del hombre, su evolución mental, el misterio de la vida y su absoluta vulnerabilidad, o dicho de otra forma, sobre el llamado Cuarto Camino.

Ganador del Premio Nobel de Literatura en 1927, la fuerza de su intelecto es seguida con interés incluso hoy, en pleno siglo XXI.

Kierkegaard nació en una acaudalada familia de Copenhague. Este filósofo, precursor del existencialismo ha sido considerado filósofo, teólogo, padre del existencialismo, crítico literario, humorista, psicólogoy poeta. Dos de sus ideas más conocidas son la "subjetividad" y el "salto de fe". El salto de fe es su concepción de cómo un individuo cree en Dios, o cómo una persona actúa en el amor.
