預言書の一つです。預言者とは、神から預かった言葉を人々に生き生きと伝え、信仰を生きるよう招く人々です。ここでは、イスラエルの民が大国のはざまで浮き沈みを繰り返す中、一時的な繁栄に酔いしれ、社会的正義を実践せず、表面的な信仰にとどまるのを鋭く批判し、回心を促す預言を集めました。

預言書の一つ「イザヤ書」からの引用ですが、すでに王国が滅び、失意ととまどいの中にあるイスラエルの民を励まし、神の愛と将来の回復への希望・信頼を説く預言を抜粋しました。
