1990年から現在まで続くカルトホラー企画「百物語」の主宰であり、演劇界に長く携わってきた著者が収集してきた膨大な怪異。

平凡な若者がNo.1美女を射止めてしまうという落語ならではの逆玉ストーリー。気弱な主人公がたい平に重なりますが、このハッピーエンドは心がウキウキしてきますよ。

全ての出演者が男性キャストのみでドラマ化されたのがこの作品の特徴。カナダ東部のプリンスエドワード島のアボンリー村に住む老兄妹のもとに、やせて赤い髪をした１１歳の女の子アン・シャーリーが貰われてきます。しかし老兄妹は男の子を希望していたのに、間違って女の子がやってきたので、ひと騒動が持ち上がり、すったもんだの末、結局老兄妹はこの赤毛のアンを引き取ることに。。。
