    2022/10/12

In this episode, we are joined by Kevin Hines, a bestselling author, global public speaker, and award winning documentary filmmaker. In the Year 2000, Kevin attempted to take his own life by jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge. Kevin now travels the world sharing the story of his miraculous survival (including a sea lion which kept him afloat!), while teaching people of all ages the art of wellness and the ability to survive pain with true resilience. • Episode 9: Sam Brinton
    2022/10/12

In this episode, we are joined by Sam Brinton (they/them/theirs), a nuclear engineer and well-known advocate for LGBTQ+ youth. At the time of our interview, Sam served as the Vice President of Advocacy and Government Affairs at The Trevor Project, the world’s largest suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for LGBTQ+ young people. After surviving conversion therapy themself, Sam has helped secure protections against the dangerous and discredited practice of conversation therapy in more than half of the country. • Episode 8: Dr. Douglas Mungin
    2022/10/12

In this episode, we are joined by Dr. Douglas Mungin, the Director of Forensics at Solano Community College in Fairfield, California. We first encountered Dr. Mungin in the Netflix docuseries, Crime Scene: The Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel, where he spoke on the complexity of skid row in Los Angeles. In the interview, we hear about the interdisciplinary nature of Mungin’s communication research, as he explores the performance of space and identity, ranging from the creation of abject spaces, gentrification, and homelessness. He reminds us of our shared humanity and encourages listeners to reinspire empathy within their own communities.
