    2025/02/01

IN THIS EPISODE: In this episode, we are joined by Kellie Thompson, who is a friend of Kim’s who has become quite the expert on functional medicine. She is going to share her journey along with some tips we can use as we advocate for ourselves and work together with our own doctors to achieve optimal health and lifestyle. We do want to point out that we aren’t doctors, much like we have also said we aren’t theologians - just sharing some things we’ve learned along the way. Thanks for joining us!

They do not fear when heat comes; their leaves are always green. They have no worries in a year of drought and never fail to bear fruit.

    Your Turn...

We want to encourage you as you go about your day to day busy life to be planted, grow, and bear fruit. Don’t try to be who others Just remember WHO you are and WHOSE you are.

Kim had a joyous wedding to attend in Alaska at the same time our beloved North Carolina was being hit with Hurricane Helene. So sorry it’s taken us so long to get back to the podcast, but we’re excited to share about all that’s gone on! We missed you!!!

    We reference:

    ISAIAH 54:10

“For the mountains may depart and the hills be removed, but my steadfast love shall not depart from you, and my covenant of peace shall not be removed,”

says the Lord, who has compassion on you.

  • So How Do You Shine Where You Are?
    2024/09/25

IN THIS EPISODE: In this episode, meet Amy’s husband, BJ, and hear how he has made his work as a teacher, coach, principal, and now FCA rep, his ministry field. We’ll all reminisce about what we miss and don’t miss about our various roles as educators over the years. If you’re a school leader, teacher, or support students in any way, you’ll be encouraged by BJ! (Check the show notes below for the books he’s written.)

    We reference:

    MATTHEW 5:14-16

You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

    Your Turn...

When you think about it, every job is a ‘people’ job. Some are great evangelists, some can give money, some of us are nurturers, but all of us can point people to Christ right where He’s placed us. How can you be a light to others where God has placed you?

    2024/09/10

Welcome to episode 20 of the rooted and grounded podcast. We’re sorry it’s been a while since you’ve heard from us, so we’re just doing a big catch-up episode about what’s been going on with us. If you enjoy bouncing all over the place, this is the episode for you! We will cover everything from selling some goats to solving a mystery to Little House on the Prairie. Thanks for joining us!

    We reference:

    ECCLESIASTES 5:18

After looking at the way things are on this earth, here’s what I’ve decided is the best way to live: Take care of yourself, have a good time, and make the most of whatever job you have for as long as God gives you life. And that’s about it. That’s the human lot. Yes, we should make the most of what God gives, both the bounty and the capacity to enjoy it, accepting what’s given and delighting in the work. It’s God’s gift! God deals out joy in the present, the now. It’s useless to brood over how long we might live. (MSG: The Message)

    Your Turn...

What are you doing to enjoy the now? And make the most of it?

    Things we mentioned:

    2024/07/16

IN THIS EPISODE: There are moments in life that are so tragic, they can rock you to the core. In this episode, we asked our dear friends Jeff & Angela Atkins to tell their
family’s story and how they found that joy & grief can coexist in the same space.. Thanks for joining us!

    We reference:

    Psalm 30:11-12

You have turned my mourning into joyful dancing..

    Philippians 4:4-7

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by
prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in
    Christ Jesus.

    Jeremiah 17:7-8

But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not
fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.

    Your Turn...

Where you are now in your relationship with Christ prepares you for any hardship you’re getting ready to go through. Jeff mentioned holding things with an open hand. Isthere something you are holding on to & trying to control that you need to hold with an open hand?

  • So How Do We Experience True Freedom?
    2024/07/04

Hey y’all! Thanks for joining us for episode 17 of the Rooted and Grounded podcast. We looked up and it’s suddenly July, which means we only got one episode done in June. We must have been on island time! Speaking of which, this episode ended up being a mish mash of a lot of riveting thoughts, everything from refinishing a table to grooming a dog to illegal fireworks. We do end up by talking about the true meaning of freedom to us, just in time for the 4th of July. To make up for the riveting content, I did include a funny blooper at the end. Hope you enjoy!

    We reference:

    Galatians 5:1

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.

    2 Corinthians 3:17

Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.

    Your Turn...

We only find true freedom and peace when we realize that God is sovereign and fully in control. Although He wants to use us to carry out His plan, He doesn’t need us tomake it happen AND he can work despite of us sometimes. What do we need to surrender to the Lord in order to experience true freedom?

    Things we mentioned:

    • Firework shenanigans in the country, summer nights on the back porch
    • Books we’ve read: The Alice Network by Kate Quinn; Swan Song , Summer of ‘69, 28 Summers, & The Hotel Nantucket by Elin Hildebrand, Life’s Too Short by Darius
