"He was a local Navajo gentleman who grew up in the area, and he was interested in showing me some pretty cool hidden paths, hidden trails out there in his region. So he told me when he's off work, and he told me where to go park my camper and truck on a dirt road out there where no one's going to bother me. And so I did."

"There's so many instances where that's been the case, but the one I want to spotlight today is a special one, and it's one of the multiple times I've actually traveled to Yosemite for firefalls. And I have made it a point to capture it. So firefalls is actually a phenomenon, a natural phenomenon that happens in Yosemite Valley in February, about mid February, for about a week. There is a very small window where there's lots of factors that have to come into play."

"And I'm sure there's a million photos of it because it seems like it's there on purpose. But it was such a surprise, and I'll never forget stumbling upon it and feeling like, oh, my God. And taking a shot of it. And it's one of my favorite shots. And I have it on a frame in my hallway, and I actually used a frame that's actually when you take a photo and you burn it onto aluminum."

"Favorite national park. That's a tough one. I feel like my national park preferences definitely vary with the seasons. Some seasons, sometimes of the year, I crave different national parks. Just recently I've been craving Joshua Tree again for the first time in a long time. Joshua Tree is so unique and so magical and mystical in so many beautiful ways."

"You know, I'm definitely one to even take my day to day, fast paced mindset and take that with me into these national places, natural places. And I will oftentimes be so quick to check off the hikes and to move on to the next agenda and whatnot. But it's really peaceful even if you just stop for five or ten minutes."

"So that's definitely one moment in the American west, which I admittedly have not spent a lot of time in. That's one moment that really, really has stuck with me and I think will stick with me."
