How do you know you’re really redeemed?

Jesus shocked a lawyer with a truth that reaches far beyond knowing the right answers or doing the right things. In the story of the Good Samaritan, Jesus reveals that love from heaven’s door produces love for those next door.

If Christ has truly been to the doorstep of your heart, there should be evidence on the roads of your life.

In Luke 10:25–37, we discover three marks of the really redeemed: they show mercy to self-inflicted wounds, they refuse to keep receipts, and they see beyond earthly bloodlines.

The question isn’t simply, “Do I know the right answers?” The question is, “Has the grace of Jesus changed the way I love the people around me?”

Every heart is producing something. The question is: Is your life barren, or is it bearing fruit?

In the Parable of the Sower, Jesus shows us that the problem is not with the Sower or the seed—the problem is the soil. The Word of God is still powerful, the grace of God is still available, and the Savior has not changed. But the condition of our hearts determines how we receive what God has given us.

Jesus challenges us to stop questioning the position of God and start confronting the condition of our hearts.

Are you putting off obedience until someday? Are you allowing trials to uproot your faith? Have the cares and riches of this world crowded Jesus out? Or are you receiving the Word, allowing it to take root, and bearing fruit?

The goal isn’t simply to hear the Word. It’s to let the Word change you.

So the question is simple:

Are you barren or bearing?

What happens when you realize you’re not as good as you thought you were? John 13–14 shows us Peter discovering the depth of his own weakness—and Jesus responding with a grace deeper than Peter could imagine. Jesus knows our failures, our sin, and our weakness, yet He still says, “I go to prepare a place for you.”

You may feel like your failures have put you outside the room, but Jesus has made a way for sinners to come home. He is not just a way, a truth, or a life—He is the way, the truth, and the life.
