概要

What is Writeopolis? Writeopolis is a fortnightly (or, for US listeners, twice a month) conversation between writing professionals (and Kit Power). The conversation happens live every other Sunday evening via Discord, with live text chat accompanying the voice discussion (no video; RJ and Kit don't have that kind of time to sort their hair out every weekend). The resultant conversation is later released in podcast form via this feed. Who is Writeopolis? Writeopolis is BFS Award winner RJ Barker, author and playwright Scott K Andrews, and BFA finalist author, blogger, podcaster and procrastinator (and the one who does all the work) Kit Power, in conversation every fortnight with professionals from across the writing industry. The aim is to recreate the conversational vibe of chatting at the bar of a really good con with the guest of honour. Without the stale chips and having to yell to be heard. Though if you want stale chips, that's fine, we guess. But they are not provided. When and where is Writeopolis? Every other Sunday - 8:30pm to 9:30(ish)pm on Discord - https://discord.gg/SxBWXrbnWp , with recordings appearing here the following Friday for Patreon backers - https://www.patreon.com/writeopolispodcast , and FREE the Friday afterwards for all. We're incredibly grateful for your financial support, but we will never charge for access to the Writeopolis live show or podcast. Why is Writeopolis? Because writing is a lonely profession, and cons didn't come around often enough even before Covid. Because the best bit of any con is the chat you have at the bar on the Sunday evening. Because we're passionate about every single aspect of writing, and we love to talk about it with fellow misfits.2021 アート 文学史・文学批評

  • Writeopolis S11 E6 - Katie Bruce
    2026/03/17

In a shocking twist, the mystery guest was revealed to be... the admin! That's right, queen of admin Katie Bruce was invited on the show, revealing her voice to the citizens for the first time! And how did the King of Leeds respond to having a fellow Loiner on the show? He swanned off on holiday and abandoned the whole of Writeopolis, obviously. Rude.

More importantly than RJ's absence, we also had:

    • Kit describing the 'all hot, no plot' Bat Out of Hell musical as 'culture'

    • Scott doing a deep dive into his own psyche over his hatred of Thatcher

    • Katie making the Sandwich Shop of Dreams feel all its feelings (and the citizens struggle with the concept of 'bread in moderation')

    • Kit is very, very busy and has mysterious good news

    • Dinosaurs get shown a lot of love with the dragon prince of Mongolia and Katie makes a reluctant choice on the binary that causes uproar!

    • There's also some big David Bowie love and all things Labyrinth are discussed.

Listen in for all this and so much more! Enjoy!

  • Writeopolis S11 E5 - Marguerite Kenner
    2026/03/03

After the epic fail of Craig the recording bot last episode, he was thoroughly reprimanded in time for the amazing Marguerite Kenner! Listen in for highlights such as:

    • The very rude motorbike

    • The podcast getting immediately thrown off topic by cats and video games leading to a record-breaking 16 minute delay on getting to the intro

    • Scott is sacked for having a sore throat

    • Cheese Detective

    • Marguerite talks about the frankly awe-inspiring amount of work she's doing

    • "I've been helping my wife build a human skin desk"

    • Night cheese is not bed milk

And so, so much more! Enjoy!

  • Writeopolis S11 E3 - Stephanie Burgis
    2026/02/16

Season 11 continued with the wonderful Stephanie Burgis!

    • Scott didn't bring enough chocolate for the whole group and was therefore immediately fired

    • Stephanie appreciates living in Britain, purely for the joy of people being able to pronounce her name correctly

    • Scott has a lot of praise for Sinners, Kit's had a horror film fest with The Shallows and Clown In A Cornfield, and Stephanie immediately changes the tone with family fantasy film Man And Witch

    • RJ surprises no one by discussing his love of all thing ships - as long as he doesn't have to actually go on one

    • Stephanie talks hybrid publishing, filling the well and gives a magical and mysterious entry to the Sandwich Shop of Dreams

    • RJ then offends Stephanie with his opinions on hot chocolate and his microphone starts playing up in response, as well it should

    • "Something awful happens in the Wonkaverse" - no I'm not going to explain, you'll just have to listen to the episode for context*

Listen in for all this and more!
