ABOUT THIS MESSAGE:
The apostle Paul never forgot how he had been an enemy of Christ and had savaged the church of God by persecuting Christians. He had nearly shut down the Jerusalem church, reducing it to a handful of Christians. Paul even deemed himself to be the foremost – the worst! – of sinners. He never forgot it. But Jesus did. Paul and others we see in our readings today remind us that God’s ministry is filled with people whom God called out of his boundless mercy. Nothing else but mercy would explain the choices God made. Christ shows us mercy, too, and calls us to see the real Savior who came for real sinners like us, empowering us for service in his Church.
