  • S1E5: Devil's Den
    2026/10/28

Among the ancient boulders of Devil’s Den, Union and Confederate soldiers fought one of the bloodiest and most chaotic engagements of the Battle of Gettysburg. Days later, photographers moved a fallen soldier’s body to create one of the Civil War’s most haunting images.

But some believe the dead never completely left.

In this episode of What Remains, we explore the brutal fight for Devil’s Den, the staged photograph known as The Home of a Rebel Sharpshooter, and the legends that followed—from phantom gunfire and shadow figures to failing cameras and a mysterious barefoot soldier who appears to guide lost visitors through the rocks.

Is Devil’s Den haunted by the men who died there—or by the stories we continue to carry into it?

  • S1E3: The Farnsworth House
    2026/10/14

More than 160 years after the Battle of Gettysburg, the Farnsworth House still bears the scars of July 1863 — more than a hundred bullet holes embedded in its walls.

During the battle, Confederate sharpshooters used the house as a firing position overlooking Union lines. Days later, those same rooms became a field hospital for the wounded and dying.

And some believe they never completely emptied.

In this episode, we step inside one of Gettysburg’s most famously haunted buildings. From the playful spirit known as Jeremy to the shadowy Smiling Man an alleged portal in the cellar, the Farnsworth House has accumulated generations of stories.

But beneath the ghosts is a question:

What happens when one place witnesses both extraordinary violence and extraordinary attempts to save the people victimized by it?
