Mayor Sean Wilson takes to the microphone with his signature warmth to deliver crucial updates for the Waynesville community this week. The business landscape is evolving with McDonald's undergoing renovations and a new Domino's featuring both drive-in and drive-through service under construction on I-Cord Avenue. Both establishments are projected to open their doors this fall, bringing new dining options to our growing community.
The city continues making strides in accessibility with sidewalk and ADA upgrades currently underway. Mayor Wilson highlights the collaborative effort with MoDOT to resolve right-of-way issues, showcasing the partnership approach to community improvement. As always, he reminds residents that weather conditions may impact projected completion dates for all ongoing projects.
With Juneteenth approaching, there are important schedule changes to note. Trash pickup will shift to Wednesday, June 19th, with recycling moving to Friday, June 20th. City Hall will close for the holiday but reopen Friday from 8am to 4pm. The community is invited to celebrate Juneteenth at Rubidoux Park with live entertainment, food, and family activities honoring freedom and unity. Other exciting events on the horizon include the 37th annual Cave State Cruisers show, a PTSD awareness walk, and the rescheduled Skate on the Square event.
As July approaches, Mayor Wilson provides a timely reminder about fireworks regulations within city limits. Residents may discharge fireworks only on July 3rd-5th between 8am and 10pm on private property or in designated park areas. Children under 14 require adult supervision, and the city may issue temporary suspensions during drought or high winds. These guidelines ensure everyone can celebrate safely while respecting our community.
