The Maryland Science Center at the Inner Harbor transforms into a playground for science lovers with Mess Fest all weekend. Expect to get gloriously messy alongside eruptive experiments, mural painting, and hands-on goo, slime, and sticky science. Baltimore Fishbowl notes this year is extra fun, celebrating the center’s big 50th anniversary with a 50-bottle Mentos and Coke eruption.
Sagamore Spirit Distillery invites whiskey lovers and dog enthusiasts to Whiskey on the Waterfront, a partnership with BARCS from noon to 6 p.m. The Wags and Whiskey edition promises live music, food trucks, and whiskey cocktails along the water.
For live music fans, Keystone Korner hosts Chrisette Michele, the two-time Grammy-winning vocalist, tonight at 1350 Lancaster Street. Further north, Star Bright Farm brings back local favorite, Whiskey Feathers Band, for an open-air sunset concert that blends rock and Americana from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Project X Baltimore turns up the heat with the city’s biggest outdoor party at Gargolas Lounge on Potee Street from 10 p.m. until late into Sunday.
On the cultural side, the Baltimore Toy Theater Festival at Le Mondo offers innovative puppetry and storytelling today, while the Feeley’s BBQ at the Irish Railroad Workers Museum brings local history and food together in a laid-back setting. R. House gets quirky with the annual Mr. Boh Lookalike Competition, always a crowd favorite. Theater lovers won’t want to miss “Canton Waterfront,” a new play at Baltimore Center Stage, following the Shek family across generations and continents.
Sunday brings Yoga on a Yacht with Cruises on the Bay at the Finger Piers, for those listeners who want to stretch out over the water. Bachata Rosa at Stem & Vine offers a dance-filled evening, while An die Musik presents the Irish Music School’s Nathan Gourley and Laura Fedderse for traditional music lovers. Sunday morning, Power Plant Live! throws open its doors for the all-day Mimosa Festival, where specialty bubbly brunches and top DJs create a multicolored, citrus-charged celebration, as highlighted by Visit Baltimore.
