Day Four of the historic 207-mile March to End Animal Testing is underway across New York State. Marchers departed Fultonville at approximately 8:30 this morning and are expected to arrive at Haslett Park in Fort Plain around 4:30 p.m., completing another demanding leg of their 14-day journey to the gates of Marshall BioResources. With every mile, activists, scientists, and compassionate citizens are calling attention to the thousands of beagles and other animals bred, confined, and used in laboratory experiments—and demanding an immediate transition to modern, human-relevant, non-animal research methods.

Tonight's livestreamed program is expected to begin around 5:35–5:40 p.m. March co-founders Gretchen Primack and Ella Magers will each speak for approximately 20 minutes. Gretchen will share poetry, followed by a fireside chat with Ella about the march and the growing movement to end animal testing. The marchers' demands remain clear: release the beagles held in laboratories, close animal-testing facilities, and end government funding for cruel and outdated animal experiments. Marshall BioResources denies allegations of animal cruelty and says it has received a clean bill of health from the USDA. Company and industry representatives are invited to appear at any time to respond and discuss their practices in the court of public opinion. Day Two of the historic March to Abolish Animal Testing in New York State is underway. It all kicked off in Albany on September 12th, 2026 with fiery speeches demanding an end to animal experimentation in an era of AI, quantum science, and organs-on-a-chip. After resting overnight in Schenectady, the resilient group of activists is tackling another grueling 15-mile trek toward the Amsterdam, New York area, where they've just arrived!
While 1,000 marchers have signed up overall, supporters continue to cycle in and out, with many joining individual legs of the journey. The ultimate destination is Marshall BioResources (MBR) in North Rose, New York—the nation's largest breeder of beagles for laboratory experimentation. Marchers are demanding the permanent closure of the facility and the immediate release of the estimated 16,000 to 20,000 beagles housed inside, mirroring the shutdowns of the notorious Envigo and Ridglan facilities.
Pressure continues to mount on MBR following a detailed 40-plus-page animal cruelty complaint submitted to the local district attorney by famed former prosecutor Bonnie Klapper. MBR denies the allegations, says it operates in compliance with USDA regulations, and has an open invitation to respond further. Powerful forces, including Smithfield, a Chinese-owned pig producer, continue to push for this act which would bring back those torture devices known as PIG GESTATION CRATES. These crates are so small pigs cannot even turn around or scratch themselves. They go insane biting on the bars. It is TORTURE.

California voters voted overwhelmingly to ban those devices when they passed Proposition 12 in 2018! That Prevention of Cruelty to Farm Animals Act banned pig gestation crates and other forms of extreme confinement. Since California is the world's 4th largest economy, that essentially banned them well beyond California. Now, this cruel industry wants to bring them back! WE MUST STOP IT.

Goat rescue trial developments take a dramatic turn as four Direct Action Everywhere animal rights activists get a major break in a controversial California case. The activists faced felony charges after rescuing two sick baby goats, Phoebe and Celia, from Vera Goat Dairy in Northern California. Now, those felony charges have been reduced to misdemeanors, eliminating the possibility that the four defendants could face more than six years behind bars.
