  • THIRD OV WEEKEND WRAP-UP - EPISODE 250
    2025/06/16

Alright, U Heard fam, buckle up! You know the drill, we're diving headfirst into the madness that is Miami Hurricanes recruiting. And what a weekend it's been in Coral Gables! Your hosts, Joey, Polk, CB, and Ben, are here to break it all down.

Recruit Reactions: The Word from Paradise!

The red carpet was rolled out, and the talent parade did not disappoint. We caught up with all the future Hurricanes on their way out of Coral Gables, and the vibes were through the roof!

First up, five-star wide receiver Calvin Russell from Miami Northwestern. This local phenom, with his mom a U hoops legend, told us the visit solidified Miami's dual-sport appeal. "It feels like home, truly," Russell said, hinting that the opportunity to dominate both the gridiron and the hardwood is a major pull. #CalvinRussell #5Star #DualSport

From the West Coast, Top247 tight end Israel Briggs flew from California. Briggs was effusive about the offensive scheme. "The way they plan to use me as a flex TE is exactly what I'm looking for," he shared, clearly impressed with the personalized approach. The Canes are making a serious push, and it sounds like they've made a real impression. #IsraelBriggs #TEU #WestCoastToTheU

Top 100 pass-catcher, Zion Robinson, a wide receiver from Texas, made his return, and it seems the pool party vibes are still strong. Robinson emphasized the academic presentation. "Education is huge for me, and Miami showcased how they support that alongside football," he noted, indicating the Hurricanes' commitment to holistic development resonated deeply. #ZionRobinson #Academics #TexasTalent

Tennessee wide receiver commit Tyran Evans took another look at the U, and it's safe to say South Florida's gravitational pull is real. While tight-lipped, Evans was seen beaming after his conversations with the coaching staff, hinting at "a lot to think about." The flip watch is officially on, folks! #TyranEvans #FlipWatch

In the backfield, Jae Lamar from Moultrie, Georgia, made his third visit this year, and it looks like the pipeline is flowing strong. Lamar's comments were brief but powerful: "This visit changed things for me. A decision is coming soon." We're hearing whispers of a commitment date on the horizon. #JaeLamar #GeorgiaPipeline #CommitmentWatch

On defense, we're trying to snag Auburn commit JaMichael Garrett, a Top247 linebacker from Louisiana. Flipping an SEC commit is always a statement, and Garrett's reaction was telling. "Miami is high up on the list after this," he admitted, clearly considering a change of heart. And newly offered DB Kosci Barnes from North Carolina, who made an immediate official visit, stated, "I loved the energy, and I can see myself making an early impact here." That's what we call efficient recruiting! #KosciBarnes #FlipSZN #DBU

The battle with Clemson for safety Blake Stewart out of Atlanta continues, and after this visit, Stewart commented, "Miami's making it tough. The relationship with the coaches is top-notch." Top247 safety Cortez Redding from Georgia was also in, linking up with his committed teammate Jontavius Wyman. Redding emphasized the "package deal" aspect, saying, "Playing with Wyman is a big draw, and Miami showed us how we fit together." #BlakeStewart #CortezRedding #PackageDeal #SafetyU

And of course, our committed offensive linemen, Rhys Woodrow and JJ Sparks, were back on campus for their official visits, getting the full VIP treatment. Both expressed excitement about their future, with Woodrow stating, "Just solidifying what I already knew – this is where I'm meant to be." Sparks added, "The family atmosphere here is unmatched." #RhysWoodrow #JJSparks #OLineU #Committed

  • CANES ARE COOKING! - EPISODE 249
    2025/06/12

Alright, U Heard fam, buckle up! You know the drill, we're diving headfirst into the madness that is Miami Hurricanes recruiting. And what a week it's been!

    New Blood in the 305!

First things first, let's hear it for the newest members of the Cane gang! We just locked down IOL legacy Canon Pickett – yeah, you heard that right, legacy – and DL Tyson Bacon out of Hoover, Alabama, who apparently thought "top national offers" just sounded like background noise compared to the U. These guys are already bringing the sizzle, and they haven't even hit the field yet!

    The Red Carpet's Rolled Out!

But hold onto your sole-branded sneakers, because this weekend? Oh man, Coral Gables is about to get lit with talent. We're talking a parade of future Hurricanes, and trust us, their visit itineraries are thicker than a Miami phone book.

Leading the charge is five-star wide receiver Calvin Russell from Miami Northwestern. This kid's got the family ties – his mom's a U hoops legend – and he's looking to dominate both the gridiron and the hardwood. Talk about a double threat!

Then there's the West Coast wizard, Top247 tight end Israel Briggs, flying all the way from California. The Hurricanes are making a serious push for this flex TE, fending off the likes of Cal and LSU. We're practically rolling out the orange carpet for this guy!

And another Top 100 pass-catcher, Zion Robinson, a wide receiver from Texas, is making his return. He loved the pool party, so you know the vibes are right. Education's a big deal for him, which means Miami's academic hustle is just as important as our football finesse.

Who Else Is Landing in Paradise?

Not to be outdone, Tennessee wide receiver commit Tyran Evans is taking another look at the U – clearly, he can't resist the gravitational pull of South Florida.

In the backfield, with Javian Mallory already in the fold, we're zeroing in on Jae Lamar, making his third visit this year. We're basically building a pipeline from Moultrie, Georgia, straight to Coral Gables, and Lamar's the next big piece.

On defense, we're trying to snag Auburn commit JaMichael Garrett, a Top247 linebacker from Louisiana. Flipping an SEC commit? Yeah, that's how we do it in Miami. Plus, we just offered DB Kosci Barnes from North Carolina, and he's already making his way down for an official. That's what we call efficient recruiting!

We're also battling Clemson (shocking, we know) for safety Blake Stewart out of Atlanta. This kid's a top priority, and we've already had him on campus twice this spring. You know we're going all-in. And speaking of Georgia, Top247 safety Cortez Redding is also expected in, linking up with his committed teammate Jontavius Wyman. It's a package deal, baby!

And of course, our own committed offensive linemen, Rhys Woodrow and JJ Sparks, are back on campus for their official visits, getting the full VIP treatment.

So, there you have it, folks! This weekend is shaping up to be a monumental one for the Miami Hurricanes. We'll break down every single visit, every subtle nod, and every potential commitment in future episodes. You don't want to miss it!

What are you most hyped about for this recruiting weekend? Let us know!

  • OV WEEKEND 2: VISITOR RECAP! - EPISODE 248
    2025/06/09

Alright, 'Canes Nation, welcome back to U Heard! The guys are here to break down what was a massive recruiting weekend for the Miami Hurricanes. After a jam-packed schedule of official visits, we're diving into all the details and giving you the inside scoop on who was in town and what it could mean for the future of the U.

The Hurricanes rolled out the red carpet for a whopping 17 prospects for official visits this past weekend. Headlining the group was, of course, five-star offensive line commit Jackson Cantwell, the No. 1 overall player in the country according to the industry-generated 247Sports Composite.

We also saw several other commits making their way to Coral Gables, including quarterback Dereon Coleman, offensive lineman Joel Ervin, linebacker Jordan Campbell, cornerback Jaelen Waters, and defensive back Jontavius Wyman.

On the defensive line, Miami hosted a pair of Top 100 talents in Buford (Ga.) five-star Bryce Perry-Wright and Miami (Fla.) Northwestern's James Johnson. The Hurricanes were battling Clemson, Texas, Texas A&M, and Auburn for Perry-Wright, while Johnson arrived with a long list of suitors, including Texas, Florida, Georgia, Penn State, and Syracuse.

Also visiting on the defensive line were Tyson Bacon from Hoover (Ala.), Freddie Wilson from Port Orange (Fla.) Spruce Creek, and EDGE Kosi Okpala from Houston (Texas), Mayde Creek. Miami had offered Okpala this spring, and Bacon had previously visited the program.

In the secondary, defensive back Tyriq Green, a teammate of Perry-Wright, was a top target for Will Harris and Zac Etheridge and made his anticipated visit to Miami. Georgia, Florida State, and Auburn were also heavily involved in his recruitment.

Four-star safety Devin Jackson, who had previously committed to Harris when he was at Florida before backing off that pledge, was also in attendance. LSU, Oregon, and Nebraska were in the mix alongside Miami for the blue-chipper out of Orlando (Fla.) The First Academy.

On the offensive side of the ball, both of Miami's top remaining offensive line targets were visiting: Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy interior lineman Breck Kolojay and Tampa Bay (Fla.) Tech interior lineman Canon Pickett. Kolojay had multiple national contenders, including Oklahoma, Colorado, USC, Georgia, and Ohio State, while Pickett, a Miami legacy, was also high on Clemson and Florida.

Finally, Top247 tight end Heze Kent, a top priority for the program, the 6-foot-5, 280-pound jumbo athlete from Brunswick (Ga.), was also in Coral Gables this past weekend. Florida was believed to be the primary contender for Kent, and Miami had a chance to make a strong case after the Gators hosted him the week prior.

What were the vibes like? What intel did we gather? Tune in to U Heard as the guys break down every angle of this critical recruiting weekend!
