In the latest episode of Two PiGs in a Pod, we sit down with Luke Hatfield of Hatfield Installations to chart his career in the fenestration industry, from his early days working with his dad, to running his own business and becoming a passionate advocate for the sector.

Luke opens up about the times he tried to leave the industry, what kept bringing him back, the lessons he's learnt along the way and the proud moments that have shaped his journey.

But this conversation is about much more than one person's career. Luke is passionate about the opportunities glazing offers and believes the industry needs to come together to shout louder about what it has to offer.

We discuss why so many young people don't know about fenestration, how businesses can help attract and develop the next generation, and why installers have a vital role to play in giving people that first opportunity.

From building a successful career to starting your own business, there's plenty of advice for anyone looking to take their next step in the sector.

In this episode, we cover:

- Luke's journey into glazing and the moments that shaped his career. - Setting up Hatfield Installations and the challenges of running a business. - The highs, lows and lessons learnt along the way. - Why fenestration offers fantastic opportunities for people at every stage of their career. - Attracting young people and promoting glazing as a career of choice. - Why the whole industry needs to work together to secure its future. - Luke's ambitions for Hatfield Installations and what he'd change about the industry.

Luke's message is clear: fenestration has so much to offer, but we all have a responsibility to make sure people know about it. Watch Luke's episode now!

In this episode of Two PiGs in a Pod, Solar Fabrications' Gareth Jones returns to the podcast, joining us from the picturesque Chile.

Gareth talks to George about his latest adventure as part of the PiGs Machu PiGchu team, taking on the legendary Inca Trail to Machu Picchu alongside a team of 13, made up almost entirely of people from across the glazing industry, to raise much needed funds for Harry's Pals.

Having previously taken on the PiGs Kilimanjaro challenge in 2024, Gareth reflects on why he signed up for another major charity challenge, the physical and mental demands of trekking at altitude, and what it was like sharing the experience with his partner, Sandrine, and the rest of the team.

We also discuss the incredible camaraderie within the glazing industry, the importance of raising awareness as well as money for good causes, and Gareth’s personal connection with Harry’s Pals, where he serves on the board of trustees.

Plus, we catch up on the latest developments at Solar Fabrications, compare Kilimanjaro with the Inca Trail, look ahead to what’s next, and finish with our This or That – Industry Edition!

We’re delighted to welcome Chris Beck of the Glazing Summit and GGP Magazine back onto the podcast for another chat about one of the main conference and networking events in the UK glazing industry calendar.

With this year’s Glazing Summit fast approaching on 8 October, Chris looks back on last year’s event and reflects on what stood out, the conversations that surprised him and the topics that generated the most interest across the industry.

We then turn our attention to this year’s Summit, including how independent research has helped shape the programme, the big issues that are likely to generate debate and the challenge of balancing the subjects the industry needs to discuss with the things people actually want to talk about.

Chris also gives us an insight into the thinking behind this year’s different session streams, the speakers he’s particularly looking forward to hearing from and his thoughts on how the Glazing Summit could continue to evolve in the years ahead.

And because this is Two PiGs in a Pod, we couldn’t let Chris return without putting him through another “This or That – Industry Edition”, while we also find out who Chris thinks would make a great future guest on the podcast.

So grab a brew, settle in and join us for another conversation from the people that make our industry what it is.
