Tudors: Blood on the Scaffold opens with the creak of a scaffold plank and the low murmur of a crowd that gathered before dawn to watch someone die. That sound is where every episode of this Tudors series begins.

This is a narrated history podcast with no host on screen, no studio banter—just the reconstructed final hours of real men and women condemned under the Tudor crown. Each installment tells one complete Tudors story: the letter that begged for help and betrayed a conspiracy, the list shoved through a chapter that cost its author his head, the empty cart that turned ordinary preachers into martyrs overnight. You get names, dates, trial transcripts, and the small human details most history books leave out—the last meal, the final prayer, the executioner who missed his first swing.

Across the series you'll move through the reigns of Henry VIII and Elizabeth I, from the racks inside the Tower to the block outside its walls. Some episodes trace treason plots unraveling under torture; others follow clerks, teachers, and country gentlemen whose death sentence came down over a single careless word or a stolen piece of parchment. This is Tudors history built from executions, not textbooks—the condemned speaking their last recorded lines, the Tudors' final hours rebuilt minute by minute until the blade falls.

New episodes arrive weekly, each one self-contained, each one ending the same way every true story about the Tudors does. Subscribe now if you want the Tudors the way they actually felt: intimate, brutal, and never quite finished until the axe comes down.Copyright OBOMEDIA ENTERTAINMENT

  • The File That Erased a General's Ceiling
    2026/10/30
A decorated general carries a compromising file into Hitler’s circle. How do you fall from that high?

The File That Erased a General's Ceiling

In this episode, we follow the career and choices of Wilhelm Keitel from cadet to the center of Nazi power. The episode traces the moments, decisions, and documents that shifted his path and asks how a capable, obedient officer became indispensable to a criminal regime.

    Person: Wilhelm Keitel
Date: 22 September 1882 (birth); January 1938 (Blomberg file); 16 October 1946 (execution)
    Location: Germany (Helmscherode, Berlin, Nuremberg)
Event: Keitel receives the Blomberg file and delivers it to Hermann Göring

    - Keitel enlists as a cadet in 1901, is barred from cavalry for lack of noble birth, and accepts artillery without complaint.
    - He rises through staff and organizational roles, noted for thoroughness and steady service rather than strategic brilliance.
    - Colleagues label him a lackey-"Lakeitel," "a sergeant's brain in a field marshal's body," and "loyal as a dog"-remarks made openly within the military.
    - In January 1938 a dossier on Werner von Blomberg, including police records and photographs, lands on Keitel’s desk and he chooses to take it to Hermann Göring.
    - Göring uses the file to force Blomberg’s resignation and then consults Hitler about who should replace him, propelling Keitel further into the center of power.

  • The order to fire on a Chinese house that turned Torreón into a massacre
    2026/10/29
A revolutionary commander fires on a Chinese house in Torreón - how does a promise end like this?

The order to fire on a Chinese house that turned Torreón into a massacre

In this episode, we trace the trajectory that led Benjamín Argumedo from tailor and saddlemaker to the man whose command is linked to the slaughter of 303 civilians in Torreón. We follow his rise through risky initiative in 1911, the capture of towns like Matamoros and Torreón, and the morning on 15 May when a false claim about a Chinese resident set events into motion; what explains the gap between the revolution’s promise and that day?

    Person: Benjamín Argumedo Hernández
    Date: 15 May 1911
    Location: Torreón, Coahuila
    Event: Massacre of 303 civilians
Occupation before revolution: tailor and saddlemaker

    - Born in San Buenaventura, baptized in Matamoros, Argumedo had no land and worked as a skilled tradesman before joining the revolution.
    - He fought under Sixto Ugalde and Enrique Adame Macías and took part in the capture of Matamoros on 9 February 1911.
    - In April-May 1911 he led assaults on Parras, was promoted to Teniente Coronel commanding ~300 men, and helped push toward Torreón.
    - At Torreón he began the siege without orders, a bold initiative that earned him the nickname "El León de la Laguna."
    - Twelve days after Torreón fell, a false claim that a Chinese resident fired on soldiers preceded an order linked in the record to Argumedo that resulted in the killing of 303 people.

    2026/10/28
A man who carried the Exclusion Bill by hand faces a scaffold-how do you fall from that high in Restoration England?

The pamphlet Ketch published blaming him for moving that ended Russell's career

In this episode, we follow William Russell from a gentleman-turned-MP who watched before he spoke to the moment he knelt at Lincoln's Inn Fields. We trace his rise, his political choices against a secretive royal-French influence, and the meetings that pushed him from Parliament to a plot that would define his fate-what did Russell walk into?

    Person: William Russell
    Date: 21 July 1683; born 29 September 1639
Location: Lincoln's Inn Fields; Stratton, Hampshire; Rye House (Hertfordshire)
Event: Carrying the Exclusion Bill; meeting at Robert Sheppard's wine merchant house; Rye House Plot disclosure
Price: Ten guineas paid to executioner Jack Ketch

    - William Russell inherited responsibility unexpectedly after his elder brother Francis died and then entered Parliament in 1660.
    - He waited fourteen years to make his first recorded speech on 22 January 1674 and then moved decisively against Catholic influence in court.
    - Russell physically carried the Exclusion Bill into the House of Lords in November 1680 and watched it rejected before retiring to his estate.
    - In October 1682 he attended an unrecorded meeting with Monmouth, Essex, Sidney, and others where stopping the king's procession at Rye House was discussed.
    - At his execution on 21 July 1683 he paid Jack Ketch ten guineas, suffered multiple blows, and Ketch published a pamphlet blaming him for “moving.”
