  • EP315: When Helping Opens Unexpected Doors
    2026/10/08
Early in my sales career, I found myself teaching sales new hires (who were struggling to get up to speed) about our products, services, and systems. I'm a teacher and healer at heart, so helping them came naturally, even though the time I spent supporting them was time away from earning commission. What I couldn't see then was that making those small deposits would eventually lead me into sales training and open up an entirely new direction in my career. That experience has stayed with me because we don't always know what will come from simply sharing what we have to offer. Sometimes it's our knowledge, our time, or one of those natural gifts that can make a real difference for someone else. Following our heart and being of service can create opportunities we never expected, but it's also important to notice when giving starts to feel one-sided. We can make deposits in others while still communicating what we need and allowing them to make deposits in us. On today's Wise Walk, we're slowing down to notice that ebb and flow in our own lives. We're looking at what it means to see a need, offer what feels aligned, and stay open to receiving support when we need it too. When that exchange comes from the heart, we have a chance to strengthen our relationships, appreciate what each of us brings to the table, and create a little more connection along the way. Can you reflect on a time when you saw a need that wasn't technically your responsibility, but you chose to step in and help anyway? What did you receive in return from that experience, whether it was satisfaction, appreciation, an opportunity, or something unexpected?Where in your life have you experienced that ebb and flow of making deposits in others and eventually receiving support in return? What needs do you have in your life right now, and are you communicating them clearly enough for someone else to recognize where they can help? Are you willing to receive help with gratitude when someone feels called to make a deposit for you?Where do you see opportunities to make deposits in your neighbors, your team, your community, or the people around you?How can you make sure the time, energy, and natural gifts you contribute are seen and appreciated? When someone has made a meaningful deposit in you, how can you look for the right opportunity to return that support in a way that feels meaningful to them? Wherever you are in life, I'd love to hear how you're following your heart, noticing where you can be of service, and making sure your contributions are valued. When we stay open to both giving and receiving those deposits, it creates a beautiful flow. Feel free to reach out and share. I look forward to next Thursday's Wise Walk, so be sure to tune in for another episode. Until then, please be sure to prioritize fun as you read the signs, direct your path, and get your Stride On. In this episode: [06:42] One of the things I love about that experience is that seeing the need for new hires prompted me to get into sales training and teaching.[08:08] I began helping new hires and it turned into an entire career. I even trained people in Paris, Frankfurt, and England.[09:28] This experience reminded me of how important it is for all of us to follow our hearts. We don't know until we try and see what magical doors the universe is opening up for us. [10:39] If we are able to see a need and share our natural born talents, we just won't know where the universe takes us.[11:09] The more we invest in those around us, the stronger those energetic exchanges are. [15:24] Living in the country, sometimes we need to depend on our neighbors and call on someone when we have a need. We also need to be open to opportunities where we can be of service.[16:08] Growing together as a community is a beautiful gift that we can give to each other. Memorable Quotes: "Until we try, we really don't know. Sometimes the universe has a magical way of opening doors for us." - Mary Tess "The more that we invest in each other and ourselves, these energetic exchanges just happen more naturally." - Mary Tess "When you see a need and feel called, listen, be aware, and decide if it feels right for you to be of service." - Mary Tess "We can grow together as a community and have this natural energy exchange that comes from the heart." - Mary Tess Links and Resources: Mary Tess RooneyEmailHeart Value Facebook | LinkedIn | Twitter | Instagram

  • EP314: How to Stop Rushing Through Your Life
    2026/10/01
I have a wonderful chiropractor who always has availability when I unexpectedly hurt my back. He makes time for his patients and emergency appointments when they are in critical need, and I loved this idea of how he honors time. He intentionally leaves space in his schedule for the unexpected, which means he doesn't have to rush through the patients who are already there. He can give them his full attention while still having room for someone who suddenly needs his help. It made me think about how often we do the exact opposite in our own lives. We fill every open space, try to squeeze in one more thing, and sometimes leave ourselves almost no room for anything to go differently than planned. Then traffic happens, something takes longer than expected, or we simply get behind, and suddenly we're rushing. We feel that pressure to catch up, be on time, and avoid disappointing someone else. I know for me, being late can bring up all kinds of uncomfortable feelings, even when what caused the delay was completely out of my control. On today's Wise Walk, we're talking about what all that rushing is really about and what might change if we gave ourselves a little more breathing room. We'll look at the pressure we put on ourselves, how we respond when things don't go according to plan, and why communicating can take some of that pressure away. We'll also talk about being more present with the time we do have, offering the same grace to others that we hope they'll give us, and trusting that sometimes the best thing we can do is allow life to unfold in perfect and elegant timing. Are you noticing any rushing in your life right now?Do you find yourself in a constant state of urgency? Are you rushing out of fear of falling behind, disappointing someone else, or feeling guilty?Has rushing simply become a habit?Do you constantly fill your calendar and try to squeeze in one more thing before you leave the house or shut down your computer? When you find yourself rushing, how does it make you feel?Does rushing bring up uncomfortable feelings for you?Can you notice why you are in that state of urgency? What can you do to change it?When you find yourself running late for something you scheduled, can you give yourself permission to pause, breathe, and safely communicate that your timing has changed? When you give yourself that permission, can you also release any guilt you may be feeling? Can you create space for perfect and elegant timing and trust that the person you are meeting will offer you the same space and grace? If you are chronically running behind because your calendar is packed or overscheduled, can you intentionally slow down and create more physical and mental space? Can you catch yourself before you overschedule and give yourself some breathing room?Where can you create unexpected buffer time so you have space for whatever is meant to come your way? Before you start your car, move on to a new task, or spend time with people you care about, how can you set yourself up for success? How can you be fully present without rushing through the experience? How often do you turn off your electronic devices? How often do you silence your notifications? Can you silence distractions during meals, drive time, or focused project time? How are you holding space for yourself to stay focused, stay present, and relieve some of the pressure you put on yourself?Where can you simply breathe, enjoy the moment, and be open to receiving the best experience possible? What does being on time mean to you? I would love to hear what strategies and techniques you use to remove that sense of urgency in your life, to notice the rush when it's happening, to notice where those uncomfortable feelings of guilt or pressure are building up in your life. Please let me know what you took away from today's episode and where in your life you're creating more space and more perfect and elegant timing. I look forward to next Thursday's Wise Walk, so be sure to tune in for another episode. In this episode: [03:53] The beauty of perfect and elegant timing.[04:59] We need to allow ourselves to go with the flow and take the pressure off of ourselves and others.[05:32] When I'm running late and getting anxiety, I take a moment and pause and breathe. [06:15] When I pause, breathe, and communicate, the other person is very understanding.[07:45] Nothing in life is worth getting in an accident over. We need to keep in mind that perfect and elegant timing is what we trust in.[10:55] It's also important to pause and breathe so our attention is fully focused and we are present in the situation.[13:29] What does being on time mean to you? [15:55] When we communicate together, and pause and breathe, so many perfect and elegant things can happen.[16:16] There's nothing more important than caring for ourselves and those around us.[16:49] As a community, how can we eliminate that pressure or sense of urgency?[17:22] We are also going to silence distractions and some of the ...

  • EP313: Trust What You Already Know
    2026/09/24
Have you ever gone back to something you haven't done in a while and immediately wondered if you still know how to do it? It's funny how quickly that doubt can creep in. We can have years of experience and plenty of proof that we're capable. Somehow, we can still convince ourselves that too much time has passed or that we've forgotten everything we once knew. Then we step back into it and realize, wait, I actually know more than I thought I did. I've been noticing this in my own life lately, especially as I return to things I haven't done for a while. I also had a moment recently when a friend was going through a difficult loss. There was a chance I might need to step into her role and emcee a call with very little notice. My first thought was whether I could really pull it off without having time to prepare. But when I stopped and looked at everything I've already done, I realized I had plenty of experience to draw from. I needed to give myself a little more credit. On this Wise Walk, we're exploring what happens when our inner critic gets louder than the evidence of what we already know. We'll look at the expectations we put on ourselves. We'll also talk about letting go of the need to be perfect. Sometimes being present is enough. Sometimes saying yes to something that makes us a little uncomfortable is exactly what reminds us what we're capable of. Are there times in your life when you stepped away from something you enjoyed or got really good at, then wanted to return to it later? When you go back to it, does fear or anxiety surface?Do you give yourself enough credit for what you already know?Instead of feeding that fear, can you remind yourself that you probably know more than you think you do?Is there an activity, passion, or hobby you want to return to but have been putting off because too much time has passed? What is stopping you from going back to something you are curious about? Can you get grounded in why you have been holding yourself back? Can you trust your ability to work through whatever comes up and allow yourself to have the experience you are meant to have right now?Has someone ever asked you at the last minute to do something you felt unprepared for? What was your internal dialogue at that moment? Were you able to honor what was coming up for you while still moving past your self-doubt?When something pushes you outside your comfort zone, can you get curious about why it feels uncomfortable? What choices do you want to make when you find yourself outside your comfort zone? What actions can you take to let go of perfection and simply be present? Can you show up for yourself and others without expecting yourself to be perfect?Where in your life can you say yes to something that feels uncomfortable? Can you step outside your comfort zone, put your inner critic on the back burner, and surprise yourself? When you do surprise yourself, who are you going to tell? How can you be your own cheerleader? How can you appreciate the progress and momentum you are creating?Where can you gently tell your inner critic, "Not right now. I'm moving ahead anyway"?How can you give yourself credit for doing something uncomfortable or challenging?Who can you share your wins with who will be just as delighted as you are? I want to give you a shout-out for doing those scary things and not feeling like you have to be perfect. You are present, and you are showing up for yourself and others in ways that matter. I would love to hear what you took away from today's episode and what else is going on in your life. Feel free to reach out and share. I look forward to next Thursday for another Wise Walk. Until then, please be sure to prioritize fun as you read the signs, direct your path, and get your Stride On. In this episode: [04:21] How I had to realize that I could step up and help someone who needed support in their time of need, even though I wasn't sure that I was ready. [05:24] I knew it was important for me to give my friend support to feel what she needed to feel. [06:22] My friend is still being the emcee for the event, but she knows that she has my support, and that I can step up if needed.[07:05] Presence over perfection. Perfection isn't what people are typically looking for. They want the raw, vulnerable, good stuff that they could relate to.[09:18] When I was on this Wise Walk, I realized that we all have this inner critic. This inner critic also creates a lot of noise.[10:17] Sometimes we also have unrealistic expectations. We need to keep these in check and realize something magical will come out.[12:12] We can't lose faith in ourselves. We need to believe in ourselves and expect good outcomes to come our way.[13:26] The importance of giving ourselves credit and owning our wins.[14:56] As children, we get used to something new every year. As adults, there isn't as much change until we start going through major life changes like retirement or a new business or career.[16:15] I'm grateful that I can apply ...
