What do you say to someone who is suffering? Our words often fall short — but Jesus’ words never do. In Revelation 2:8–11, Christ speaks directly to a church under crushing pressure, deep poverty, and harsh persecution. To the believers in Smyrna, He says, “I know… Do not be afraid… Be faithful, and I will give you the crown of life.”

From Rome to the Red Sea to Jerusalem, Megan shares about her adventure in 6 countries reading and living the Bible. She spent 3 months travelling Israel, Egypt, Turkiye, Greece, Italy and Switzerland with YWAM to take a deep dive into the Word of God. She shares how God met her in the Garden of Gethsemane, what it likes to stand on the shores of the Red Sea, and what she learned about Jesus by walking the roads he walked. We’ll break down Jesus' words together and see how this ancient prayer shapes us in some life-changing ways.

Doing the right thing often costs us, but is it still worth it? We wrap up conversation on the Beatitudes from the Sermon on the Mount by talking about what persecution means, why we should expect it, and how to get through it. Jesus says that we will be persecuted for pursuing justice - whether in homeless encampments, fights in the subway, when seeking equity, or other places. And Christ is with us in those times, calling us blessed. We conclude this series on the beatitudes by looking at them all together and seeing how the way of Jesus is beautiful, challenging and ultimately worthwhile as we receive these blessings as both a calling and a gift from God.
