Hey there! Welcome to the Trauma In Our Veins podcast, where we discuss anything and everything we've endured in this chaotic world in which we find ourselves. Everything from parenting to mental health to traumatic events is open for discussion. I'm Maggie & I'm Erica, and we are making the following promises to you, our listener: 1) This is a safe space, 2) Don't be a jerk, 3) Everyone has their opinions and is entitled to them, 4) Pronouns are up to each person to decide, but as a rule Maggie and I will be using she/her pronouns because that's how we identify, and 5) No misinformation, opinions and experiences only.

  • When Family Hurts: Rewriting Our Stories part 2
    2026/09/02

    Hey listeners!

Thank you for being patient with us! As promised, here is the final portion of Rewriting Our Stories. We look more deeply into what attitudes and actions can still be repaired, and where it might be time to draw a hard line to protect our own peace. As adults, we get to choose how to rewrite our stories, so we can become the main character we want to be. We also get to choose what blueprint we pass on to future generations.

Of course, as always, the choice is in your hands, and all we hope to do is provide some guidance on how to view these decisions through a couple of seasoned pairs of eyes. Remember to reach out to available local resources to support you in your journey; you do not have to face it alone.

We have some fun and exciting episodes coming out soon! Stay tuned!

  • When Family Hurts: Rewriting Our Stories part 1
    2026/08/10

    Hey listeners,

I don't know about you all, but we were told how our lives should go. Chapter 1 was go to church, Chapter 2 was go to school, Chapter 3 was build a family. But who's in charge of our outline? Our families have their own opinions and beliefs about everything, but it's time we figured out how to write our own stories without the pressure of other people's expectations.

In part 1 of this episode, we get into family patterns, including generational trauma and how that impacts us and the roles we take on as children and later as adults. The blueprint we were given by our families didn't teach us HOW to process our emotions or repair conflict. By rewriting our stories, we get to decide how to heal from the ruptures and conflict, and how to start the next chapter.

Stay tuned for part two, where we discuss what can and can't be repaired, and how to navigate that as adults who are rewriting our stories to become the main character we want to be and what blueprint we want to pass on to future generations.

  • Current Events and Keeping Up Hope
    2026/08/08

    Hey listeners,

It has been a minute; we know. Don't worry, we have been recording as much as we can, so you never have to miss our voices. Just as a heads up, a lot of this information will be from months ago, so bear with us as we get caught up with releasing more episodes!

Enjoy as we discuss current events, which include some fangirling over our favorite NYC mayor Zohran Mamdani, because why not?

Buckle up, friends. With everything being as dark as it has been lately, it's important to maintain sight of both truth and hope. Truth is grim, and hope will get us through it. So build up your village, call out the bullshit, and find the humor anywhere you can. We will do our best to bring a smile to your faces.
