  • Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders with Amber Weakley | Episode 18

    Joining Jessie on this week's episode is Amber Weakley. Amber is the Outreach Coordinator for Post Partum Support Charleston, and shares with us the many struggles of PMAD, and the impactful work that PPD Charleston offers to women. 

    An estimated one in five women women suffer with postpartum depression and anxiety. Some research has this ratio as shocking as one in three who endure maternal mental illnesses. To put this in perspective, that is a staggering 950,000 women in the US alone who will struggle to move into motherhood. PPD Support Charleston is a non-profit organization that exists to provide support and resources to women and their families struggling with maternal mental illnesses, such as depression, anxiety, OCD, and psychosis during and after pregnancy.
