    I recently underwent a mastopexy with augmentation and abdominoplasty. I’m coming to the mic today having severely underestimated the impact this experience would on me beyond what I went into the OR to address.   • 6. Vanity, Plastic Surgery, and Celebrating Differences in the Face of Raising Daughters
    2023/11/07

    I share my thought process surrounding my decision to get plastic surgery after having my two kids. I touch on how I broach not only my upcoming surgery but also aesthetic topics more generally with my daughter.

    I feel strongly about the need to encourage more open, less shame-based discourse about the female body. We start this by discussing and honoring our decisions and helping support earlier generations in embracing differences and loving themselves.

    Specifically regarding my approach in managing these conversations with my daughter are the following three tenets:

    • Leading my example (actions over words)

    • Being mindful of shame-based talk

    • Acknowledging and sometimes neutralizing our children’s commentary

    Time to get personal! For this unsuspecting gal, the unique formation of my family unit is not something that ever entered my anticipated realm of possibility.

    Leaving my engagement in the first trimester of my first pregnancy, experiencing immense fear, and going through in-depth personal work to find and stay in touch with my inner truth culminated in an outcome I never would have expected.

  • 4. Facing Holiday Inertia: When to Resist vs. When to Give In
    2023/10/17

    The holidays can be wildly overwhelming!

    In this episode, I break down how we may think about when to drag our butts to do something (because it will serve us in the end), and when we may be better off simply saying, “no, thank you.”

    I talk about fitness in the winter, social obligations, and that ever-growing list of personal tasks and chores.

    I also share about the sadly exciting time my husband and I tag-teamed cleaning our filthy couch by hand and how rewarding the experience was (the story is relevant; I promise).

    My overarching thesis is that we are generally too hard on ourselves as it is, so in a season that generates so much incremental demand of our time and energy, thinking about your wellbeing is paramount!
