Is the Great Falling Away already happening in the Christian church? Dr. Delman Coates, senior pastor of Mt. Ennon Baptist Church in Clinton, Maryland, has sparked controversy by preaching that there is “no biblical basis” for abstaining from premarital sex. He argues that the Greek word porneia, commonly translated as “fornication” or “sexual immorality,” refers primarily to prostitution rather than sex before marriage. Coates has also made controversial statements about divorce and remaining in unhappy marriages. In this video, Joshua Simone of Torn Curtain examines Dr. Delman Coates' shocking sermon clips, his progressive Christian theology, and the growing influence of liberal theology within the church. Are we witnessing biblical truth being compromised to accommodate modern culture? And what does the Bible actually teach about sex before marriage, marriage, divorce, and sexual purity? We take a deep dive into what the Bible says about premarital sex, fornication, and sexual immorality, examining the original Greek meaning of porneia and key Scriptures including 1 Corinthians 6:18, 1 Corinthians 7:2–9, Hebrews 13:4, Matthew 15:19, and Genesis 2. We also explore 2,000 years of historic Christian teaching on sexuality and marriage, along with biblical scholars such as Sam Storms and Tim Keller. This discussion goes beyond one megachurch pastor to address the dangers of progressive Christianity, false teaching, biblical compromise, and apostasy in the modern church. How can Christians stand firm on God's Word without falling into legalism or compromising biblical holiness? The church must return to sound doctrine, biblical truth, repentance, and righteous living rather than conforming to the culture around us.

What is the spiritual legacy of televangelist Jim Bakker, and did his prosperity gospel theology contribute to his family's embrace of progressive Christianity? Following Jim Bakker's death in October 2026, his daughter Tammy Sue Bakker publicly distanced herself from her father's theology and encouraged donations to LGBTQ organizations. Meanwhile, his son, Jay Bakker, has become a prominent progressive Christian pastor who supports LGBTQ inclusion, same-sex marriage, and challenges traditional evangelical beliefs. Even Jim Bakker's former wife, Tammy Faye Bakker, became widely known for her LGBTQ advocacy. In this video, we examine the controversial legacy of the PTL Club, the scandals surrounding Jim Bakker's televangelism empire, and the possible spiritual consequences of prosperity gospel teaching, religious hypocrisy, and celebrity Christianity. Did the failures of Jim Bakker's ministry contribute to his children's rejection of traditional evangelical theology?Jesus warned in Matthew 7:16, "Ye shall know them by their fruits." What does the Bakker family's story teach us about false doctrine, the prosperity gospel, and the dangers of building ministries around money, entertainment, and celebrity pastors rather than biblical discipleship? We examine the differences between progressive Christianity and traditional biblical Christianity, including the authority of Scripture, repentance, holiness, salvation, and the teachings of Jesus Christ. Although we cannot know every reason behind the Bakker family's theological changes, their story raises serious questions about the spiritual legacy of televangelism and the responsibility of Christian leaders to practice what they preach. The church doesn't need more gimmicks, prosperity preachers, or compromised theology. We need a return to the true Gospel of Jesus Christ, grounded in the WORD and empowered by the HOLY SPIRIT.#prosperitygospel #christianpodcast #christiannews TORN CURTAIN MINISTRY INFO:

Kenneth Copeland introduced New Age teachings into the Word of Faith movement, influencing the broader Charismatic Church? In this eye-opening video, we examine the troubling connections between Kenneth Copeland's prosperity gospel teachings, Napoleon Hill's bestselling book Think and Grow Rich, and the New Thought philosophy that helped shape modern New Age spirituality. We look at footage of Kenneth Copeland discussing Napoleon Hill's influence on his understanding of prosperity and examine Gloria Copeland's unusual "100-fold return ring," which she associates with financial blessings. Are these teachings rooted in biblical Christianity, or have New Age concepts such as positive thinking, visualization, manifestation, and metaphysical principles found their way into the church? We explore the similarities between Napoleon Hill's philosophy and the Word of Faith movement, including teachings about wealth, faith, and the power of spoken words.Having spent my entire life in the Charismatic movement, I share my personal experience growing up under the influence of Kenneth Hagin, Kenneth Copeland, and prosperity gospel theology. While I firmly believe in divine healing, the gifts of the Holy Spirit, and God's desire to bless His people, I also believe the modern Charismatic Church desperately needs biblical discernment, sound doctrine, repentance, and reformation. Using Scriptures including Deuteronomy 18:9–12, Colossians 2:8, 1 Timothy 6:3–10, and 1 Thessalonians 5:21, we examine the dangers of false teaching, the love of money, and allowing worldly philosophies to influence Christian doctrine. Is it time for the Charismatic Church to reject the excesses of the prosperity gospel and return to the true Gospel of Jesus Christ? My prayer is for a genuine reformation that brings the church back to WORD and SPIRIT, biblical truth, holiness, and the power of the Holy Spirit.
