  • Episode 8: From Idea to Innovation: Making Waves in Paddleboarding
    2025/11/28

Why didn’t we think of this?!

Becky’s story is an inspiring example of following that mad idea, trusting your instincts, and acting when you see a problem instead of letting it pass you by. She spotted a need, and she fixed it.

Her journey is also one of balance - continuing to deliver an important role for an NHS institution while steadily building a side hustle that, we’re pretty sure, will make waves across the paddleboarding community. Along the way, she’s learned the importance of patents and protecting your inventions, turning her creative outlet into a business with real commercial potential.

Becky is the founder of Fin Skate, a business dedicated to designing, manufacturing, and selling innovative transport tools for SUP and surfboards. What started as a personal search for a creative outlet during a time of deep grief has evolved into a growing brand within the paddleboarding world. She’s built Fin Skate from the ground up - securing a patent, trademark, and design rights, and consistently making sales since launch. Becky’s mission is to support and inspire the paddle-boarding community through practical, well-designed products, and she’s aiming to scale across Europe while staying rooted in innovation and connection.

    2025/11/14

This episode is all about knowing the roles you play in a partnership, understanding where your skills lie, and bringing those strengths confidently to the table.

Joe Haire’s story is also one of recognising that when tough times come, you sometimes need to step out of your comfort zone -so you don’t look back one day and wonder what if. It’s a reminder of the importance of having the right people around you to support, challenge, and cheer you on.

Joe Haire is the Creative Director at White Red Architects, where he fosters the studio’s design culture, oversees creative processes, and ensures the firm’s design ethos is upheld. He guides the team in delivering impactful architectural solutions.

Before co-founding White Red Architects, Joe worked at AHMM Architects, where he played a key role in completing several high-profile projects, including the AELP Fitness Centre, Google’s HQ office spaces in Kings Cross, and 20 Farringdon Road for Derwent London.

🎧 This is an inspiring listen for anyone navigating partnership dynamics, overcoming challenges, and holding onto belief in what they do.
