Should you focus on that big-picture moment when everything comes together, and your dream is finally realized? This can help you stay motivated when it gets tough.

Or, should your focus really be on the day-to-day, one foot in front of the other, so you'll keep making progress?

  • Find the time to write your book - but DON'T write every day ✍️
    2025/06/03

You've heard this advice a million times before.

    "write every day."

MANY writers subscribe to this idea - even famous ones and quite a few that I know personally and have a ton of respect for.

Like most writing advice, this is well-intentioned. But, like most writing advice, it isn't universally applicable and can be harmful in some circumstances.

In this episode I encourage new and aspiring authors to build a consistent, sustainable writing habit that works with your schedule, and doesn't lead to burnout.

Because your book deserves to be written!

  • Fix Your Broken Soundtracks and Finally Write Your Book!
    2025/05/13

This week on the podcast I share what I've found to be one of the very BEST ways to beat self-doubt and imposter syndrome, with some help from bestselling author Jon Acuff.

Jon's book Soundtracks is the book I recommend more than any other, and with good reason. This smart, accessible book helps writers and creatives change overthinking from a super problem into a superpower.

We've all had that feeling of imposter syndrome.

From those feelings of intellectual and/or professional fraudulence. Sometimes, we experience this even after we've made major accomplishments in our field.

    Why?

There are a lot of reasons, but one of the big ones is because we allow ourselves to continue believing lies, continue listening to broken soundtracks. But we don't have to !

    • Imposter syndrome sabotages our goals and undercuts our success. It robs us of the satisfaction we should feel when we make accomplishments or eclipse milestones. It freezes us in fear and keeps us from moving forward.

    BUT you can beat it!

With the help of Jon's book, we'll describe how you can Retire your broken soundtracks, replace them with new and better ones, and repeat the new ones until they become as automatic as the old ones.

This can literally change everything for you!

    Buy Soundtracks today!

Action step: Perform a one-week "soundtrack audit." Listen to those repetitive, negative phrases that you think or say about yourself or your work. Identifying your broken soundtracks is the first step to retiring and replacing them.
