Good evening,

For this second message of this new year, I was lead by the Holy Spirit to read the story of the Prodigal Son as told in Luke 15:32 who left home to find his own way. As I was reading this man's story, it brought many things to my attention: the first being why did the son want to leave home. Why did this particular young man who seemingly had a good life: food, clothes, money, shelter, love of family, et al go in search of something different. What more did he need? What was he searching for that he didn't have at home?

As we read this story, we learn so much about this man's past and present and how the tendency to handle things on our own and carve our own path has tempted many of us. I"m sure at some point in all of our lives, we have had a rebellious spirit to branch out on our own and make our own path. We get tired of rules and living right, so to speak, and want to see what else is out there that we could be missing out on.

Please know that there is only one right path that leads to life and that is through Jesus. He is the way , truth and life. This story teaches us that our way leads to destruction and following after Jesus and his will leads to life.
