  • EP 112: The Trump Assassination Plots: What the Investigations Missed and Why It Matters With Ken Silva
    2026/08/30

This is episode 112 of The Truth Tank

In this episode we sit down with investigative journalist, author and editor of Headline USA, Ken Silva, to examine the assassination plots targeting Donald Trump and the questions that remain surrounding the investigations.

Drawing largely from Ken’s book The Trump Assassination Plots: What the Investigations Missed and Why It Matters, we explore what he uncovered while investigating the July 2024 Butler, Pennsylvania shooting and the later assassination attempt in Florida.

What did the official investigations uncover — and what did they leave unanswered? We discuss the evidence, the timelines, the security failures, Thomas Crooks and Ryan Routh, and the areas Ken believes deserved much greater scrutiny.

This is a conversation about the evidence, the unanswered questions and Ken Silva’s investigation into two attempts to assassinate a former and future president of the United States.

  • EP 111: The Odyssey Files: Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey Review — Modern Myth, Modern Interpretation, or Misplaced Meaning? - Part 2
    2026/08/23

This is episode 111 of The Truth Tank

Picking up from Part 1, we continue our full review of Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, focusing on the second half of the film, its climax, and the bigger questions raised by Nolan’s interpretation of Homer.

We break down Nolan’s interpretation from every angle — the acting, casting, music, cinematography, practical and visual effects, costumes, armour, production design, historical accuracy, emotional core and, most importantly, how faithful the film actually is to Homer’s Odyssey.

Nolan has said he wanted to honour Homer. But has he actually done that?

We look at the film’s apparent rejection of the gods and the repeated idea of Odysseus “defying the gods,” and ask whether removing the divine from The Odyssey fundamentally changes what makes Homer’s story so powerful.

We also examine Nolan’s focus on PTSD and psychological trauma, Odysseus’ hubris and responsibility for the suffering that follows the Trojan War, and whether Nolan’s interpretation adds something meaningful — or ultimately misses the point of the original poem.

Then we turn to the world Nolan has created.

Does the armour look convincing? How does it compare with Troy and other historical epics? Does the blend of practical and visual effects create a believable Bronze Age world? And why is creating a lived-in, believable world so important to historical and fantasy filmmaking?

Finally, we step back and ask whether Nolan’s creativity has gone too far. Could another director have made a more authentic Odyssey? And what happens when a filmmaker’s vision begins to dilute the source material they set out to honour?

Does Nolan’s The Odyssey capture the spirit of Homer — or lose what made the original epic so special?

    This is The Truth Tank.

    2026/08/22

This is episode 110 of The Truth Tank

In this episode of The Truth Tank, I’m joined by special guest Antonio Alves, author of Gods or Civilisations from the Stars, for a deeply personal conversation about a lifetime of unexplained experiences.

Antonio’s journey into the world of UFOs and the unexplained began when he was just a child. Following his first encounter with a strange light in the sky, he says his perception of reality changed forever — including experiences of knowing things he felt he should not have known.

Over the course of his life, Antonio has experienced multiple unexplained phenomena, including UFO encounters, encounters with mysterious individuals he identifies as the “Men in Black,” shared experiences involving members of his family, strange unlocked memories involving extraterrestrial contact, missing time and much more.

In Part One, Antonio takes us back to the beginning of his story and explains how these experiences shaped his life, his research and ultimately led him to write his book, Gods or Civilisations from the Stars.

This is Part One of Antonio Alves’ story.

  • EP 109: The Odyssey Files: Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey Review — Modern Myth, Modern Interpretation, or Misplaced Meaning? — Part 1
    2026/08/09
This is episode 109 of The Truth TankChristopher Nolan’s The Odyssey is one of the most ambitious cinematic adaptations of an ancient story ever attempted. But how much of Homer’s Odyssey actually survives Nolan’s interpretation? In Part 1 of The Odyssey Files, I put Nolan’s film under the microscope and repeatedly return to Homer’s original poem as the benchmark. Rather than judging the film purely as a piece of modern cinema, I’m asking a bigger question: is Nolan’s interpretation faithful to the myth, the world, and the ideas that made Homer’s Odyssey endure for almost three thousand years?Having visited the ruins traditionally associated with ancient Troy and spent time studying the world in which the story is set, I look closely at Nolan’s historical and cultural choices — from the Trojan Horse and Bronze Age armour to the age of Telemachus, Agamemnon’s appearance, the accents, and the film’s unusual collision of past and present.I also examine Nolan’s decision to modernise the mythology. The Odyssey is not simply fantasy; it is mythology, built around ancient Greek concepts of mythos and logos, fate, the gods, hubris, identity, heroism and the consequences of human choices. Has Nolan found a way to translate those ideas for a modern audience, or has the modernisation stripped away some of Homer’s original meaning? Then there’s the filmmaking itself.I take a closer look at Nolan’s use of IMAX and 65mm film, questioning whether the enormous formats genuinely serve the story or whether IMAX has become something of a cinematic Trojan Horse — a way of convincing audiences that they need to buy the most expensive ticket possible. From the half-sunken Trojan Horse in the opening scenes and some questionable creative choices, to the film’s casting, jumpy editing and the changing tone once Odysseus and his crew reach the open sea, I work through the major strengths and weaknesses of Nolan’s adaptation. We also get into Agamemnon, the Cyclops, Circe, the suitors, Odysseus himself and the film’s treatment of the gods. Why does Nolan make Odysseus such a different character? Does the emphasis on PTSD fundamentally change the meaning of his journey? Has the Cyclops been reduced to just another monster when Homer’s story is really about hubris and its consequences? Why has Athena’s role been so heavily altered? And what happens to the mythology when the gods themselves are pushed into the background?Perhaps the biggest question of all is this:Is Odysseus still Odysseus in Nolan’s Odyssey?Christopher Nolan has spent much of his career reinventing established mythology and characters through modern lenses, from Batman in The Dark Knight trilogy to his explorations of time, memory, identity and reality. But Homer’s Odyssey is not simply another story to reinterpret. It is one of the foundations of Western storytelling. So has Nolan successfully modernised an ancient myth or has he pushed his creative interpretation too far? This is Part 1 of my deep dive into Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey. But this is only the beginning. This is the first instalment of a much larger series exploring Homer, The Odyssey, The Iliad, the ancient tradition of oral poetry, and the world of the Late Bronze Age.Merch:The Truth Tank Shophttps://the-truth-tank-shop.creator-spring.comBuy Me A Coffee https://buymeacoffee.com/thetruthtankSocials:Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/thetruthtank/Facebookhttps://www.facebook.com/ThetruthTank/Listen:Spotifyhttps://open.spotify.com/show/0P4Hcqlgc6kCG0bYyAS2SuApplehttps://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-truth-tank/id1463256905I Heart Radiohttps://iheart.com/podcast/76110779Castboxhttps://castbox.fm/channel/The-Truth-Tank-id5627421?country=usYoutubehttps://www.youtube.com/channel/UCrhX1ZqvZx_xM59bk-tRa6QSources:Homer, The Odyssey, translated by E. • EP 108: Supergirl Review: Blockbuster or Box Office Bomb? | The Future Of The DCU
    2026/08/02
This is episode 108 of The Truth TankThe DC Universe is entering a new era under the leadership of James Gunn. After years of uncertainty, creative changes, cancelled projects, and a revolving door of filmmakers, DC is attempting to rebuild its cinematic universe from the ground up.Following Superman, which acted as the launching point for the new DCU, Supergirl arrives as the second major film in this new chapter. While Superman brought a lighter tone, humour, and a sense of optimism that moved away from the darker Snyder-era approach, can Supergirl continue that momentum? In this episode of The Truth Tank, we dive into Supergirl and explore the story of Kara Zor-El, Ruthye, Krypto, and the villain of the film — Krem of the Yellow Hills. From Krypto being poisoned and given only three days to live, to Kara and Ruthye embarking on a mission for revenge and redemption, we break down the film’s themes, characters, and biggest creative choices. We look at the film’s shifting styles, including the missed opportunity of embracing its western-inspired elements, and whether the villains ever truly represented a serious threat or just cannon fodder. But the biggest question remains: why did Supergirl struggle at the box office? Was it because audiences are tired of superhero movies? the character herself? Or was Supergirl simply another example of a blockbuster that failed to deliver the story audiences were looking for?We explore the problems behind the film’s reception, from its pacing, tone, and over-the-top presentation, to the larger issues facing DC after years of instability. The Snyderverse era left DC with a complicated legacy. Despite having some of the world’s greatest superheroes, DC often appeared to prioritise side characters and spin-offs while the foundation of the universe remained uncertain.Fans have repeatedly been asked to invest emotionally in new versions of their favourite heroes, but will they till exist a few years later. So can studios really blame audiences for staying home when confidence in the future of these franchises has been damaged? We compare DC’s struggles with Marvel’s approach. We look at superhero fatigue, content overload, streaming saturation, the decline of event cinema, and whether audiences are losing interest in spending their lives consuming endless content. Finally, we ask the bigger questions: Is James Gunn still the right person to lead the DCU into the future? What happens to Supergirl after a disappointing theatrical run? And has the superhero genre reached a point where audiences no longer careFrom box office failures and blockbuster fatigue, the future of comic book movies and the importance of putting story first, this episode investigates the current superhero paradox — when bigger budgets, bigger universes, and bigger expectations don't always create bigger successes.Merch:The Truth Tank Shophttps://the-truth-tank-shop.creator-spring.comBuy Me A Coffee https://buymeacoffee.com/thetruthtankSocials:Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/thetruthtank/Facebookhttps://www.facebook.com/ThetruthTank/Listen:Spotifyhttps://open.spotify.com/show/0P4Hcqlgc6kCG0bYyAS2SuApplehttps://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-truth-tank/id1463256905I Heart Radiohttps://iheart.com/podcast/76110779Castboxhttps://castbox.fm/channel/The-Truth-Tank-id5627421?country=usAmazonhttps://music.amazon.com/podcasts/791410e2-fa17-43e7-84db-6c81325f4203Youtubehttps://www.youtube.com/channel/UCrhX1ZqvZx_xM59bk-tRa6QAudible https://www.audible.com.au/podcast/The-Truth-Tank/B08K6PRB1F?source_code=ASSGB149080119000H&share_location=pdpSources:https://www.dc.com/blog/2025/07/10/james-gunn-and-the-comics-that-inspired-supermanhttps://www.hollywoodreporter.com/https://variety.com/https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/movies/articles/james-gunn-called-supergirl-worst-051109241.htmlhttps://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en&q=mily+alcock+staments+on+supergirl&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8

  • EP 107: The Missing and Dead Scientists: Fact, Pattern, or Coincidence? Pt: 2
    2026/07/19
This is episode 107 of The Truth TankOver the past few years, a growing number of American scientists, engineers, researchers, and defence-connected personnel have died or vanished under a wide range of circumstances. Some cases appear to have straightforward explanations. Others continue to raise difficult questions. Are these isolated tragedies, or do they form part of a larger, more complex pattern? In Part 2 of this two-part investigative series, we continue our journey into the strange and unexplained cases of scientists, engineers, and researchers whose lives ended under unusual circumstances or whose disappearances remain unresolved. From national laboratories to remote wilderness trails, we investigate the evidence, the questions, and the possible connections between these cases.Featured Case Files:Case File 008 – Monica Reza: Materials scientist and research engineer whose disappearance while hiking in the Angeles National Forest has raised questions surrounding her final movements and the unusual circumstances of the case.Case File 009 – Anthony Chavez: Engineer connected to a facility involved in defence and national security work whose sudden disappearance left behind unanswered questions and unusual details.Case File 010 – Melissa Shirley Casias: Los Alamos National Laboratory employee whose disappearance after returning home left behind personal belongings and a series of unanswered questions.Case File 011 – Jason Thomas: Doctor and researcher whose disappearance following an evening out with his wife ended months later with the discovery of his remains.Case File 012 – Amy Eskridge: Researcher and founder of the Institute for Exotic Science whose death, years before the wider cluster of cases examined in this series, adds another layer to the investigation. We also explore recurring themes, examine the connections people have drawn between these cases, and continue the search for answers while separating documented facts from speculation. Are these cases connected by something more than coincidence, or are we seeing patterns emerge from unrelated tragedies?Join The Truth Tank as we investigate The Missing & Dead Scientists – Part 2.Merch:The Truth Tank Shophttps://the-truth-tank-shop.creator-spring.comBuy Me A Coffee https://buymeacoffee.com/thetruthtankSocials:Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/thetruthtank/Facebookhttps://www.facebook.com/ThetruthTank/Listen:Spotifyhttps://open.spotify.com/show/0P4Hcqlgc6kCG0bYyAS2SuApplehttps://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-truth-tank/id1463256905I Heart Radiohttps://iheart.com/podcast/76110779Castboxhttps://castbox.fm/channel/The-Truth-Tank-id5627421?country=usAmazonhttps://music.amazon.com/podcasts/791410e2-fa17-43e7-84db-6c81325f4203Youtubehttps://www.youtube.com/channel/UCrhX1ZqvZx_xM59bk-tRa6QAudible https://www.audible.com.au/podcast/The-Truth-Tank/B08K6PRB1F?source_code=ASSGB149080119000H&share_location=pdpSources:https://www.solvethecase.org/case/2025-56/monica-rezahttps://www.jpl.nasa.gov/https://patents.google.com/https://www.losalamosnm.gov/Community/News-media/Search-Continues-Anthony-Chavezhttps://missingpersons.dps.nm.gov/https://losalamosreporter.com/https://missingpersons.dps.nm.gov/https://www.lanl.gov/https://disappearedblog.com/melissa-casias/https://www.wakefield.ma.us/https://people.com/https://www.novartis.com/https://anomalyarchives.org/collections/file/pettigrew-amy-eskridge/https://www.uah.edu/https://www.hal5.org/https://ntrs.nasa.gov/https://www.newsweek.com/https://www.newsnationnow.com

  • EP 106: Disclosure Day Review: Truth, UFOs, ETs & the Disclosure Paradox
    2026/07/12
This is episode 106 of The Truth TankWhat if disclosure isn't a single event? What if it's already happening? In this episode, we use Disclosure Day as the starting point for a much bigger conversation about UFOs, extraterrestrial intelligence, government secrecy, and one of the defining questions of our time: who gets to control the truth? We break down the film's DNA, exploring its connections to Close Encounters of the Third Kind, the influence of Steven Spielberg, and why the film deliberately throws the audience into an ambiguous world of shadowy government programs, unexplained phenomena, and unanswered questions. We discuss the classic UFO tropes woven into the story, the film's religious themes, the Wardex Group, its hidden Spielberg callbacks, and why its slower, mystery-driven storytelling stands in stark contrast to today's over-explained streaming blockbusters. We also examine the real-world events that inspired several of the film's key moments, explain the ending, discuss whether the underdeveloped World War III subplot serves a larger purpose, and ask the question many viewers will inevitably have: why was this film released now? From there, the conversation leaves Hollywood behind.Since 2017, the disclosure debate has fundamentally changed. We're no longer arguing over whether strange objects exist in our skies. The real question has become who has the authority to classify, release, or withhold information about them. Is disclosure being carefully managed? Are leaks, congressional hearings, whistleblower testimony, documentaries, and films all part of a gradual public acclimatization? Or is "disclosure" itself becoming another narrative designed to shape public perception? We also tackle one of the oldest questions surrounding the phenomenon: does belief in extraterrestrial intelligence conflict with religious faith, or could the two coexist? If humanity were confronted with undeniable evidence of another intelligence, what would that mean for our place in the universe, institutions, and our understanding of ourselves? Finally, I give my own perspective on where I think the disclosure conversation is heading, what the film gets right, what it misses, and why the biggest mystery may not be the existence of UFOs—but the way information about them is controlled.Whether you're a skeptic, a believer, or somewhere in between, this episode explores the intersection of cinema, history, psychology, religion, government secrecy, and the enduring human desire to understand what may be waiting beyond our world.Merch:The Truth Tank Shophttps://the-truth-tank-shop.creator-spring.comBuy Me A Coffee https://buymeacoffee.com/thetruthtankSocials:Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/thetruthtank/Facebookhttps://www.facebook.com/ThetruthTank/Listen:Spotifyhttps://open.spotify.com/show/0P4Hcqlgc6kCG0bYyAS2SuApplehttps://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-truth-tank/id1463256905I Heart Radiohttps://iheart.com/podcast/76110779Youtubehttps://www.youtube.com/channel/UCrhX1ZqvZx_xM59bk-tRa6QSources:The New York Times (2017) – Glowing Auras and 'Black Money': The Pentagon's Mysterious U.F.O.
