  • Episode 38: The Fall Reset Your Body Actually Needs
    2026/09/21

Have you noticed yourself wanting to go to bed a little earlier, craving warmer foods, feeling a shift in your energy, or simply wanting to slow down as fall approaches?

Your body notices the changing season, even if your schedule doesn't.

Modern life allows us to keep our homes the same temperature, eat the same foods, stare at screens after sunset, and maintain essentially the same routine 365 days a year.

But your biology is still receiving information from the environment around you.

In this episode, Janell explores what it can look like to work with your body as the seasons change instead of expecting it to operate exactly the same way year-round.

    You'll hear about:

    • Why changes in light and temperature matter to your circadian rhythm and nervous system
    • How morning light helps signal that the day has begun
    • Simple ways to create a clearer transition between daytime and nighttime
    • Why cooler temperatures can be a gentle form of seasonal adaptation
    • How seasonal foods can connect you with your environment without becoming another set of food rules
    • Why meal timing may shift as daylight hours change
    • How your evening environment can affect sleep and recovery
    • Why wanting more rest during a seasonal transition doesn't necessarily mean something is wrong
    • How to choose one supportive change instead of creating another seasonal wellness checklist

This isn't about following a rigid seasonal protocol or doing everything perfectly.

    It's about paying attention.

What has changed in your environment?

What are you noticing in your energy, sleep, hunger, mood, and desire for rest?

And what is one simple way you can work with that change instead of against it?

Your body isn't asking you to live the exact same day 365 days a year.

    Nature doesn't do that.

    Neither do you need to.

  • Episode 37: Why Everything Feels Like Too Much: Understanding Nervous System Capacity
    2026/09/14

Have you ever noticed that something small can completely derail you one day... and barely register on another?

The spilled coffee didn’t get bigger.

    Your available capacity changed.

If you’ve been practicing nervous system regulation but still find yourself easily overwhelmed, overstimulated, reactive, shut down, or feeling like everything is suddenly too much, there may be another piece of nervous system work worth understanding: capacity.

Regulation and capacity aren’t the same thing.

Regulation can support you through a difficult moment. Capacity changes how much sensation, emotion, stress, uncertainty, responsibility—and even joy—you can hold before your nervous system needs to sound the alarm.

In this episode, Janell explores what nervous system capacity actually means, how to recognize when yours is running low, and how to gradually build more of it without turning nervous system healing into another thing you need to do perfectly.

    You’ll hear about:

    • The difference between nervous system regulation and capacity
    • Why your capacity can change from one day or season of life to another
    • How to recognize when you’re approaching the edge of your window of tolerance
    • Why capacity isn’t a measure of toughness or how much stress you can tolerate
    • How avoiding every trigger can reinforce the belief that discomfort is dangerous
    • Why learning to experience emotions is part of building capacity
    • How titration helps expand capacity without overwhelming your system
    • How sleep, nourishment, blood sugar, movement, hormones, and daily rhythms affect capacity
    • Why strength training can teach your body that it can experience load and recover
    • How your thoughts, beliefs, and expectations affect your nervous system
    • Why greater capacity also creates more room for joy, connection, success, pleasure, and the things you actually want

Building capacity doesn’t mean becoming better at tolerating endless stress.

And it doesn’t mean building your life around avoiding anything that might activate you.

It means creating more room to be human.

More room to feel without immediately needing to change how you feel.

More room to experience uncertainty without needing an immediate answer.

More room to respond instead of react.

More room to rest and receive.

And more room to stay connected to yourself while you live your life.

    🌿 Somatic Healing Sessions

If this episode helped you recognize that you’re frequently operating at or beyond the edge of your current capacity, Janell offers individual

    Somatic Healing Sessions.

Together, you can better understand your nervous system patterns, recognize what pushes you outside your window of tolerance, and begin building capacity in a way that works with your body rather than against it.

  • Episode 36: How Women Lose Themselves Without Realizing It
    2026/09/02

How does a woman get so far away from herself without even realizing it?

It rarely happens all at once.

It can happen slowly, through years of taking care of other people, saying yes when you want to say no, ignoring what your body is telling you, keeping the peace, meeting expectations, and becoming really good at being who everyone else needs you to be.

Until one day, you realize you’re not entirely sure what you need anymore.

In this episode, Janell sits down with Angela Obert, business development expert and owner of Network Connection Minnesota, for a deeply personal conversation about people-pleasing, codependency, self-abandonment, identity, and what it takes to rebuild a relationship with yourself.

Angela shares openly about her own experience with codependency and how she began recognizing the ways she had changed or abandoned parts of herself to please, help, or fix others. She and Janell also explore why “doing the work” doesn’t mean old patterns disappear, and how transformation can look less like eliminating those parts of yourself and more like changing your relationship with them.

    They talk about:

    • How people-pleasing can become self-abandonment
    • Why old patterns can still show up after years of personal growth
    • What rebuilding self-trust actually looks like
    • Why keeping small promises to yourself matters
    • The difference between consistency and perfection
    • How the nervous system can keep familiar identities and patterns in place
    • Learning to listen to the signals your body is sending
    • Why uncomfortable emotions, including anger, need space to be felt
    • How to begin separating what you genuinely want from what you’ve been conditioned to want
    • Why being physically “in the room” can create something another podcast, book, or program simply can’t

Ultimately, so much of this conversation comes back to one thing:

The relationship you have with yourself.

And perhaps coming back to yourself isn’t about reinventing who you are.

    It’s about remembering.

🌿 Remember Me: A Day to Come Back to Yourself

On October 2, Janell and Angela are continuing this conversation in person with Remember Me, an intimate, full-day retreat for women at The Nest Retreat in Vadnais Heights, Minnesota.

It’s a day to step outside the noise and responsibilities of everyday life, reconnect with your body and your own voice, and explore who you are in this season of your life.
