  • Empowering Athletes in the NIL Era - Max Rusakov & Calum Kuhn of RevU
    2026/01/08

College athletes are signing NIL contracts they don't fully understand. And it's costing them.

Max Rusakov and Calum Kuhn saw the problem and built the solution: RevU — an AI contract-intelligence platform that empowers college athletes to do NIL with confidence.

Max, a recent SMU graduate with a background in finance and management, leads operations and partnerships at RevU. Calum, the CTO and Solutions Engineer at Coralogix (formerly Splunk), brings cutting-edge AI expertise to transform how athletes understand and manage their NIL contracts.

In this episode of The Standard Podcast™, Max and Calum break down the biggest lie the NIL industry sold college athletes, why most athletes don't understand what they're signing, how AI is transforming contract management, and the red flags athletes, families, and athletic directors need to watch for.

Whether you're a college athlete navigating NIL deals, a parent trying to protect your kid, or an athletic director building resources for your program—this conversation will challenge how you think about NIL contracts and athlete protection.

This isn't motivation. This is a movement.

  • Dustin Sobieraj on Building Program Turnarounds
    2026/01/05

From competing at the highest level in the Big 12 conference to building nationally ranked position groups, Dustin Sobieraj knows what it takes to transform programs and develop elite athletes.

As a former Kansas State University player, Dustin learned early what it means to compete against the best. Now, with 14 years of experience in athletics and 5 years in performance training, he's pouring that knowledge into the next generation through Law 1 Fitness & Training.

Dustin's track record speaks for itself: 4 program turnarounds, 2 nationally ranked position groups, and 1 top 10 in the state ranked position group. He holds 5 certifications including personal training, performance enhancement, nutrition, weight loss management, and ACEP for coaching athletics.

But Dustin's not just building better athletes—he's building better people.

In this raw conversation on The Standard Podcast™, Dustin unpacks:

    • The biggest lie culture sold athletes about performance and training
    • What it really takes to build program turnarounds from the inside out
    • How to compete at the highest level with discipline and integrity
    • The character crisis happening in youth sports and how to fix it
    • The one truth every young athlete and coach needs to hear

Whether you're an athlete looking to level up your game, a parent investing in your kid's development, or a coach building a winning program, this episode will challenge how you think about performance, training, and what it means to compete with excellence.

  • KJ Peoples: From All-Conference WR to Turning Income Into Impact
    2025/12/22

Kaylon (KJ) Peoples brings the discipline and competitive mindset from his All-Conference wide receiver career into the world of financial services.

Today, he works with Global Financial Impact (GFI), coaching athletes, entrepreneurs, and business leaders on how to protect, grow, and transfer wealth. His mission is simple: turning income into impact.

The problem? Too many athletes earn well but don't have the systems in place to protect it. Too many young professionals make great money but don't understand how to build lasting wealth.

KJ helps people set up smart structures (LLCs, S-Corps, Trusts), reduce taxes legally through advanced planning, and build wealth strategies that last (IUL, retirement plans, business planning).

In this episode of The Standard Podcast™, we dive into:

    • The biggest lie culture sold athletes about money and wealth
    • Why earning well doesn't equal building wealth
    • How to set up smart structures to protect your income
    • What athletes need to know about NIL deals, taxes, and legacy planning
    • How discipline from athletics translates to financial success

Through GFI, KJ has access to an advanced planning division — a team of specialists who handle complex cases like high-income earners, NIL deals, trusts, and legacy planning. That means whether you're just starting or already established, KJ can connect you to resources usually reserved for the ultra-wealthy.

At the end of the day, KJ partners with driven, coachable people who want to change their financial story — not just make money, but multiply it, protect it, and pass it on.

This is raw. This is real. This is the truth athletes and professionals need to hear.

  • Gini Grimsley: Building Bodies That Last with Pain-Free Performance
    2025/12/18

Gini Grimsley is changing how athletes train.

As Executive Director of Programming for Pain-Free Performance, Gini has spent nearly two decades creating cutting-edge, results-driven programming that helps athletes move better, perform stronger, and build bodies that last.

A former women's basketball player at the University of North Carolina Greensboro, Gini understands the athlete's journey from the inside. She knows what it's like to push your body to the limit. And she knows what happens when training methods break athletes down instead of building them up.

That's why she's dedicated her career to one mission: helping athletes train smarter, not just harder.

In this episode of The Standard Podcast™, we dive into:

    • The biggest lie the fitness industry sold athletes about training
    • What "pain-free performance" actually means (and why it matters)
    • How to build sustainable strength that doesn't break you down
    • Why most athletes are using outdated training methods
    • What coaches and trainers need to know about longevity
    • How to create programming that gets results without injuries
    • The truth every athlete and fitness professional needs to hear

Gini's approach is simple: performance matters, but so does longevity. You can't build a championship career on a broken body. You can't compete at your best when you're managing chronic pain. And you can't achieve your potential if your training methods are working against you.

This is raw. This is real. This is the truth athletes, coaches, and trainers need to hear.

  • Geremy Davis: From the NFL to Golf and Gospel
    2025/12/15

Geremy Davis spent six years in the NFL. But his story didn't end when football did.

After his professional football career, Geremy transitioned from the field to building businesses that combine competition, entertainment, and faith. As the founder and CEO of Golf and Gospel LLC, Geremy is creating a golf community where entertainment meets enlightenment and joy intersects with faith — hosting tournaments, spreading the message of hope, and making a positive impact beyond the fairways.

Through Training 148, Geremy trains wide receivers and tight ends in the Phoenix area, pouring into the next generation the lessons he learned through years as a professional athlete.

His favorite inspirational quote from the Apostle Paul — "Do not grow weary of doing good, that in due season you will reap, if you do not give up" — reflects his commitment to perseverance, faith, and refusing to quit. The athletics industry is challenging, and there are times when things don't go the way you envisioned. Geremy could have given up, but he chose to continue to push and believe that the reward was coming.

In this episode of The Standard Podcast™, we dive into:

    • The biggest lie culture sold athletes about life after football
    • How Geremy transitioned from six years in the NFL to building businesses
    • What faith and perseverance look like in practice
    • Building Golf and Gospel as a community rooted in competition and the gospel
    • Training the next generation through Training 148
    • What "do not grow weary of doing good" means for athletes and entrepreneurs
    • Advice for athletes transitioning out of their sport

Geremy's journey is a testament to trusting the process, building identity beyond the game, and creating a legacy rooted in faith and excellence.

  • Kalei Mahi: Closing the NIL Education Gap for Student-Athletes
    2025/12/11

Kalei Mahi is closing the gap that's leaving too many student-athletes unprepared for NIL.

A former record-holding Division I athlete, Kalei has spent more than 15 years working with some of the world's biggest brands — AT&T, The Coca-Cola Company, Sony, Lexus, AB InBev, and American Express — along with award-winning agencies like Team One and The Many. She later brought that experience into the influencer world, developing campaigns for YouTube, Google, Sephora, eBay, Bang Energy, and many others.

Today, as Founder and Chief Legacy Officer of NextGen Legacy NIL, Kalei is on a mission to help student-athletes understand their value and make smart, informed decisions that set them up for what comes after retirement from their sport.

She teaches athletes how to build brands that get noticed and helps them understand what companies look for when choosing brand partners. She also works with universities to design NIL incubators that offer consistent resources and strengthen recruiting and retention.

In this episode of The Standard Podcast™, we dive into:

    • The biggest lie the NIL industry is selling student-athletes
    • How to protect your value in NIL partnerships and contracts
    • What companies actually look for when choosing brand partners (it's not just follower count)
    • Why most student-athletes aren't prepared for the business side of NIL
    • How families can support their athletes without being taken advantage of
    • What universities should be doing to prepare athletes for NIL
    • Building brands that last beyond your playing days

  • Corsley Edwards: Last Pick in the Draft, First in Resilience
    2025/12/06

Corsley Edwards's journey proves that your path doesn't have to look like everyone else's.

Drafted 58th overall — the last pick in the 2002 NBA Draft — Corsley played just 10 games for the New Orleans Hornets before his NBA journey took a different turn. But instead of walking away, he built a career that lasted over a decade.

Corsley won a CBA Championship with the Sioux Falls Skyforce and was named Finals MVP. He was the first overall pick in the 2006 D-League Draft. He played professionally across eight countries — Turkey, Italy, Spain, China, Croatia, Poland, Bosnia, and Lebanon — winning championships and proving that "making it" means something different than what culture sold us.

After over a decade of professional basketball, Corsley transitioned into coaching, serving as an assistant coach for the Denver Nuggets and the Greensboro Swarm in the NBA G-League.

In this episode of The Standard Podcast™, we dive into:

    • The biggest lie culture sold athletes about what "making it" means
    • How being the last pick shaped Corsley's understanding of identity and success
    • What playing professionally across 8 countries taught him about resilience
    • Building legacy beyond just "making the NBA"
    • The moment he realized the NBA wasn't going to be his path — and what he did next
    • Transitioning from player to coach and what he tells young players now

Corsley's story is a masterclass in perseverance, redefining success, and building a legacy that goes far beyond 10 NBA games.

  • Jacob Harris: From Soccer to Super Bowl Champion to the UFL
    2025/11/30

Jacob Harris's journey doesn't look like most NFL players' stories. And that's exactly what makes it powerful.

A fifth-year NFL wide receiver and Super Bowl LVI champion with the Los Angeles Rams, Jacob's path to professional football started with an unusual transition: from soccer to football at UCF. He entered the NFL as a raw but high-upside prospect, worked his way onto a championship team, and when the opportunities shifted, he didn't quit — he joined the San Antonio Brahmas in the UFL in 2025, continuing to prove his versatility and dedication to the game.

Jacob's journey is defined by one thing: relentless perseverance.

In this episode of The Standard Podcast™, we dive into:

    • The biggest lie culture sold athletes about what "making it" means
    • How Jacob built identity through adversity and uncertainty
    • What perseverance really looks like when the path gets hard
    • Transitioning from soccer to football and learning a new sport at the college level
    • Winning a Super Bowl and what that moment meant beyond the ring
    • Continuing to compete in the UFL and refusing to give up on the game
    • Advice for high school, college, and aspiring pro athletes chasing their dreams

Whether you're grinding for a scholarship, fighting for a roster spot, or navigating what's next after your playing days — Jacob's story will remind you that your path doesn't have to look like everyone else's.
