  • John Hayes on Cork’s opening two league wins

    ON THIS week's podcast, Star Sport columnist and former Cork footballer John Hayes to talk about Cork’s opening two National Football League wins.


    John Cleary’s side have seen off Cavan and Louth so far and sit top of Division 2.


    This is the first time the Rebels have won their opening two games in the top two divisions since 2015, which is progress.

    Cork were comfortable winners away in Drogheda as they defeated Louth 1-17 to 1-12.


    Hayes gives his thoughts on how the league is going so far.


    Also on the show, we discuss wins for the hurlers and LGFA team.


    Ben O’Connor’s hurlers beat Galway 2-20 to 1-21 to go second in Division 1A while Joe Carroll’s LGFA team beat Galway 1-10 to 2-5 to rise to second in Division 1.

  • Cork LGFA captain Emma Cleary on her new role
    2026/01/28

    ON THIS week's podcast, we welcome new Cork LGFA captain Emma Cleary onto the show to talk about her new role.


    Cork got their Lidl LGFA League Division 1 off to a start with a 1-10 to 2-7 draw against Kildare in MTU Sports Grounds.


    Joe Carroll’s team are a newly promoted side having achieved promotion from Division 2 in 2025.


    Cleary won the Cork club championship with Éire Óg during the winter and will be hoping to show her leadership qualities in the county season.


    We also touch on the Cork footballers and their winning start to Division 2 of the National Football League against Cavan (0-24 to 2-17).


    A Steven Sherlock late two-pointer free was enough to see off a Cavan side who were seven points up with 12 minutes to play.


    John Cleary’s side face Louth in Drogheda this Sunday (1.30pm).


    As for Ben O’Connor’s hurlers, they romped to victory over Waterford (3-25 to 1-17).


    They will travel up to Galway this Saturday (7pm) for the second round of Division 1A.

  • West Cork Sports Star Awards special
    2026/01/21

    ON THIS week's podcast, it is that time of year again as we look back at the West Cork Sports Star Awards for 2025.


    Nicola Tuthill won the Sports Star of the Year award on the night and at only 22, her stock continues to rise


    We include a chat with the hammer thrower in this week’s show after her award win about the year she had and her hopes for 2026.


    We caught up with special guest on the night David Gillick too, who is a feature of RTÉ’s athletics coverage.


    We also have clips of Philip Wall, Kate Wall, Kilmacabea GAA/LGFA, Graham Canty and Abbie Salter-Townshend on what was a great night had by all.

    Back to matters on the pitch, Cork start their National League campaigns in three of the four codes this Sunday.

    Joe Carroll’s LGFA team host Kildare in MTU (2pm) with an added interest in the new rules coming in this season.

  • Ronan Crowley talks about Kilbrittain’s greatest ever day

    ON THIS week's podcast, we honour Kilbrittain and their fantastic All-Ireland Junior Hurling Championship win.


    The Carbery club saw off Easkey 0-19 to 0-18 in a thrilling final in Croke Park.


    They became the first club from the West Cork division to win an All-Ireland hurling title, sparking joy amongst their fans.


    We are joined by the Man of the Match on the day Ronan Crowley, as he chats about the win itself, the celebrations, what it means for the club and his own brilliant performance.

  • Philip Wall chats before Kilbrittain’s All-Ireland final

    ON THIS week's podcast, Philip Wall chats to us about Kilbrittain’s All-Ireland final in Croke Park this Saturday (3.15pm), as they face Sligo club Easkey.

    The West Cork club have been on a great journey, starting in Ahamilla when they faced local rivals Barryroe and it ends in the biggest stage of all.


    Joe Ryan and his side have had memorable wins against Ballygarvan, Glen Rovers, Knockaderry, Kilrossanty and Davidstown-Courtnacuddy up to this point and are now one game away from the big prize.

  • Barryroe’s Emma Deasy and Meabhdh Sexton talk about their camogie success
    2025/12/22

    ON THIS week's podcast, we caught up with Barryroe camogie players Emma Deasy and Meabhdh Sexton after they won the county and Munster double this year.


    After beating West Cork rivals Kilbree in the junior B county final, they overcame Newcastle West, Moyle Rovers and Kilmaley to win the provincial championship.


    Deasy was the joint-captain with Kate Whelton this year while Sexton is the goalkeeper in the team and one of the experienced players.


    Both players talk about their success this year, aiming to go up through the grades and their influential manager Tom Farrell.


    We also look back at Kilbrittain progressing to the All-Ireland Junior Hurling Championship final.


    The Black and Amber beat Wexford side Davidstown-Courtnacuddy 2-15 to 1-16 last Saturday to book their Croke Park place.


    Joe Ryan’s charges will face Sligo champions Easkey in GAA HQ on Saturday, January 10th (3.15pm).

  • Kilmacabea captain Ian Jennings and Munster council delegate Joe Blake

    ON THIS week's podcast, Kieran caught up with both county winning Kilmacabea captain Ian Jennings and Munster council delegate Joe Blake.


    Jennings is after a season where he led Kilmacs to the McCarthy Insurance Group Cork Junior A Football Championship after they beat Donoughmore recently.


    It means that the Leap and Glandore club will taste county championship football in 2026 after years of knocking on the door.


    We are also joined by Blake, friend of the show, as he explains his club championship idea that could be for the better in years to come.


    The Adrigole native is a former Cork GAA PRO and is currently a delegate with the Munster council.
