  • Evan Deasy announces himself to the world and Lionel Messi
    2025/09/24

ON THIS week's podcast, we chat to Evan Deasy, who won the inaugural Más+ by Messi 1v1 World Crown in Miami.

What’s more, the Bandon teenager was strutting his stuff under the watchful eye of Lionel Messi, the Argentinian superstar.

The Cobh Ramblers striker earned his place in Miami after coming through a qualifier in Dublin. Once he landed in Florida, he reached a new level – beating some of the best young talents in the world, including Timmy Abraham, brother of England and Besiktas striker Tammy Abraham, on his way to glory.

Winning a crown and excelling in front of, what some would describe as, the GOAT. What a week for the 18-year-old.

Speaking of GOAT’S, Patrick Horgan retired from inter-county hurling this week, finishing as the top scorer in championship history (as of now) with 32-683.

The Glen Rovers man has left the scene without an All-Ireland medal but will go down as a Cork hurling legend and we pay tribute.

We also discuss an exciting upcoming weekend of club football action where Newcestown, Castlehaven, Ilen Rovers and Gabriel Rangers are looking for semi-final spots.

Newcestown blew the Premier Senior Football Championship wide open with their 0-12 to 0-10 win over Castlehaven, meaning the county champions will face St Finbarr’s in the quarter-final.

Newcestown, led by David Buckley and the evergreen Tadhg Twomey face Carrigaline in the quarter-final.

Clonakilty saved their tier one status by beating neighbours Carbery Rangers 1-17 to 0-6, consigning Ross to a relegation play-off against Valley Rovers.
