Come along on a gentle journey through the Australian bush, where sleepy Aussie animals are waiting to meet you.
In this guided Yoga Nidra meditation, children are invited to imagine wandering along a winding bush path, beneath beautiful eucalyptus trees with shimmering silver-green leaves, warm sunshine and cool, shady places to rest.
Along the way, we'll meet a tiny sugar glider curled up in a tree hollow, a wombat resting in its burrow, a sleepy koala, a kangaroo, a playful platypus and a beautiful owl.
Each animal offers a gentle invitation to notice and rest a different part of the body, from the tips of our toes to the top of our head.
Yoga Nidra, sometimes called yogic sleep, is a guided relaxation practice that encourages rest through body awareness, breathing and imagination. This child-friendly adaptation introduces these experiences through storytelling and the sights, sounds and sensations of the Australian bush.
Children are encouraged to participate in whatever way feels comfortable. They can lie still, move, fidget, keep their eyes open or closed, imagine the story or simply listen.
Ideal for: Bedtime, quiet time, rest breaks, or simply enjoying a peaceful moment during a busy day.
Settle somewhere comfortable, perhaps with a favourite blanket or cuddly toy, and join me for a little adventure through the Australian bush.
